I don't think the door is closed on Marbury
He hasn't saved face yet or proven he is a winner and we still need a back up point. I think MD makes things interesting. If we work a SnT we have the LLE open and the only spot of need is back up PG, maybe Marbs gets what he wants. If we use the LLE on MD than the stalled negotiations will break one way or another. If Steph is holding out for the LLE it will be already used up. If he does want to come back, it would only make sense to hold out at least until the LLE is gone. So I won;t go as fat to say I think he will be back but I don't think the door has closed.
2 more points: talk of playing in Europe is BS. Simply because Steph is as American as they come and loves being a celeb, which he will not be to anywhere near the same level over there. Also the buzz around our team is growing. We will probably get more TV games an the critics might even pick us for once. Marbs will want in on that Buzz over a crappy team where even if he does well no one will care.

Didn't Josh Childress become a big celebrity when he went overseas? If he got celebrity status, certainly Marbury can, along with more money and they ability to spread his Starbury brand.

I hope he comes back. House + Marbury + Daniels + Sheed is awesome. Plus, we can still bring BBD back and be completely stacked.

i'd take him on the roster if we trade ta/scal for daniels and sign him and swift. just in case, but not as big a roll as he had last year.

Re: I don't think the door is closed on Marbury
Now that Daniels is in the fold, I'm not sure there is room for someone of Marburys calibre.
If we have Steph from training camp on, he should be playing 20+ mins a game. House and Daniels both command that kind of playing time. There arent enough mins for all three.
A cheap vet that can handle the ball in playoff pressure in case House/Daniels are struggling getting the ball up the floor is all we need and Marbury is a lot more than that.
Marbury would make this a 10 man rotation for sure and that may be a bit much???

Re: I don't think the door is closed on Marbury
Why wouldn't their be room for Marbury? Who is our back up point right now, an unproven Pruitt whos brightest moment since hes been in Boston is playing good in summer ball.
Until he proves he can play in the big league, he shouldn't get his spot. Marbury showed glimpses of his ability throughout the season, and with a full training camp i think he'll really shine at the point behind Rondo.
Daniels doesn't effect the pg role at all, he doesn't play that position, he is a back up for Pierce and Ray. We have no back up for Rondo at the moment, and i won't call Pruitt a solid one either.
Hopefully the sign and trade deal goes with Scal and TA going to Indy for Daniels. We sign Big Baby, and give Steph the rest of the $ we can offer, our team is ridiculous right now, and with those 2 coming back we are the clear cut favorites for a ring. And if he doesn't want that and would rather go play 25 minutes in some bumb ass nba town, than let him go right ahead. But if he wants a ring, and he wants to prove he can still ball, than Boston is that place.

Well if we acquire Daniels via sign and trade. Their could be a spot for him here. But He better be ok with like 5 -10 minutes a game at best.

Re: I don't think the door is closed on Marbury
again why are the minutes so small?
is Rondo going to be playing the whole game without a back up? He'll get minutes, he'll be our only back up to rondo.

Because House at PG compliments the acquisition of Marquise Daniels better. Daniels can take some of the ball handling burden off house letting him play off the ball where he is more effective. A win win for Daniels and House. Marbury needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Which would take away from Daniels strengths. Marbury would be the 5th guard on this team and wouldn't get serious minutes unless their was an injury.

I have always thought Marbury will be back with the Celtics and I still believe he will be next season. He is just trying to get more money then the vet min.

Marbury at PG, House at SG and Daniels at SF is the best way to go for the 2nd unit. Eddie is a shooter not a PG.

Frankly, I don't believe House should be a 20 minute guy. He's a specialist. He should average 8-10 minutes per game tops. Don't get me wrong. He should and would have 20 minute games when he's hot. He's the kind of guy that you ride when he's hot. But House is really like a 9th or 10th man. He should fill the "Steve Kerr" or "Craig Hodges" role.
If we got Marbury and BBD back, our average MPG's should look this:
Rondo - 32
Pierce - 32
Allen - 32
Perkins - 28
Garnett - 28
Wallace - 25
Daniels - 20
Marbury - 20
Davis - 16
House - 8
I brings the ruckus to the ladies!

See, You are missing the point. In essence Daniels would almost be the pg on offense allowing House to be the SG. While on defense Daniels can guard the 2 and Eddie can guard the 1. Allowing you to play house at pg. That's why we dont need to give Marbury minutes.

Re: I don't think the door is closed on Marbury
I would love to have Marbury back, and I think minutes wouldn't be an enormous obstacle because of the sorts of changes in minutes we can expect next year. First, with Marbury here and in shape we would be able to scale back the amount of time Ray Allen is in the game, giving House more minutes at shooting guard. House has been perfectly happy playing just over 15 minutes a game, and Marbury if he's willing to come here could expect somewhere around 20 minutes a game behind Rondo. Daniels signed on in Boston to back up Allen and Pierce, so he knows what he's getting into. We would be able to reduce Pierce's regular season minutes to what he was playing during our championship season instead of what he was playing after we lost Posey. Garnett's regular season minutes have been carefully rationed for years. Perkins fouls a lot and doesn't spend too long in the game except when we have big man injuries. We can expect at least one or two injuries at some point during the next season, giving the bench players more playing time. And on top of all that, with a team that has both the most talented starting lineup and the most talented bench in the NBA, we'd have plenty games where we would be able to give the starters some rest without worrying about giving up the lead. So I think every single one of our bench players could expect to be on the floor for well over a quarter of a typical game, even if we signed Marbury and Davis.
Minutes would get squeezed in close games and the playoffs, and in games where we build up leads (not even insurmountable leads, just reasonable leads), we could leave our bench players in longer.

Marbury is looking for more money and more playing time. He mostly likely won't get either of those here. There is a good chance Marbury will be playin elsewhere.
