Is it Baby's turn?........

Baby watch
According to an NBA source, at least three teams have approached the Celtics about a sign-and-trade deal for restricted free agent forward Glen Davis, but the Green have yet to show interest in such a move. With that in mind, a team would likely need to use most of its midlevel exception in order to sign “Big Baby’’ to an offer sheet. And if so, Boston would have seven days to match.
One NBA general manager said Friday he expects Davis to be among the next group of free agents to be signed. Others mentioned included Lakers forward Lamar Odom, Spurs forward-center Drew Gooden, and possibly Denver forward Linas Kleiza.

I think he's the best of the remaining lot.
The real question is, who at this point would pay close to the MLE for BBD?
It seems like most of the obvious destinations have gone with someone else.

I've read Utah, New Orleans, Detroit, and Boston want him. With Detroit getting Wilcox they're probably less interested.

New Orleans would be a looking for a sign and trade. (less likely with Marquis arriving)
Utah is still supposedly moving Boozer out, so Baby could theoretically be part of a multi team deal there.
Or Big Baby could simply return to the Celtics.

Has anyone offered him a contract? I think BB is being disrespected. Not by us. But other teams. I expected him to sign an offer sheet within the first week of Free Agency.

that is unless, BB and his agent are turning stuff down, or asking for more dough.

These things tend to go in order- Top talent first. Unrestricted before restricted. Baby had to wait for some other big men to be cleared: Rasheed, McDyess, Milsap etc.

Now it's getting close.

I don't think any of those teams have enough to offer for Baby via a trade. Unless Ray's involved and I doubt he is.

Even if Baby's traded it doesn't look like he'll be getting the minutes and money he first thought he'd get. There's just not that many choices left. We might be able to get him for a song if other teams are afraid we'll match.

Strike that comment about Detroit. Marc Spears just tweeted: "det addition of wilcox doesnt affect sign trade interest in Cs Big Baby"

Detroit can't straight up outbid Boston with an offer because they only have a little over 3 mil under the cap and the Celtics will match that.

The only guy they have on their roster to do a sign and trade who works out talent-wise and salary-wise is Maxiell...

i don't understand what they would do with maxiell, wilcox, and BBD. all 3 are PFs, and can't really play C full time.

there would probably be more PT for BBD here.

That's true. But if they swap Maxiell for Baby it would clear that logjam and save them money. Dumars would have to love Baby though (which he supposedly does). Of course Big Baby has had some of his best games vs. Detroit.

Maxiell has 4 yrs left at 5 mil per.

I'd rather sign BBD for those numbers and forget about the sign-n-trade.

plus since we can only take back half of BBD's salary, so to make it work BBD would have to be signed at a pretty large deal, or else we need to send someone else with BBD.

alternatively, instead of maxiell they could give us stuckey :D

With a Baby S&T the salaries have to match *both* ways. Baby salary counts as 50% going out, but counts as 100% for who's coming in. This kind of trade is *very* hard to do with any team over the salary cap.

right, but DET is under the cap, so they can take more salary in return (about $3.2mil more).

Warriors need a wide body to go with Biedrins-Randolph on the frontline..How about Davis to the W's for Azubuike and BWright?

That's not bad, I'd probably do it. We need some bench players. We'd have to throw in either Scala or Tony to make it work. Both are expirings though.
