Please provide your signature as a show of support. Maybe Ainge will see this.
I mean tell me he doesn't sound like a Celtic?
Royal Ivey

Can you talk about your mindset out on the court?
I just want to be relentless and do the little things. They don’t get put down in the stat book, but it’s the little things that help teams win. That’s what I enjoy doing. That’s what brings me pride and joy.
How much of playing defense is mental?
It’s pride. You have to take pride in it. Everybody can do it, but people don’t like doing it. I put it in my head from day one that I’m going to be prideful in my defense.

How about a petition to not sign anyone who can't shoot?

I'm game. He's a big PG like Steph so he and Eddie can play together.

We can't have another guy who can't shoot. We already have Giddens, Tony, Rondo, and now Daniels. 25% of the team cannot shoot. If we got ivey, it'd make 33%.

I don't think we shoud pick up anyone more that can't shoot, basically...
I think the offense will always be going through our stars, and the only way the role players really fit in is open jumpers.
Like I was saying about TA in another thread - TA is decent at driving to the hole and scoring if he has the ball, but that will NEVER be as good an option as going through one of our stars, who should presumably be on the court at the same time. Tony can only score if he gets free rein to drive, and we rarely have reason to give that to him - we just need more guys who can drill the corner 3.

I rather give Lester Hudson a chance.

Any time you can sign a guy that shot 33% from the field last year, you pretty much have to.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/s ... yerId=2387He's a career 34% 3 point shooter. I think the point being is that he's a big defensive point guard that cam hit the open J when needed, but isn't a scorer.
When he played in Mil, he played well against us....then again a lot of players do.

The key name here is: Eddie House. Let's repeat it, Eddie House. If Ivey keeps the ball out of House's hands, I'm all for this guy. Here's two more names, Eric Snow and Allen Iverson.
The more I look at this team reshaping itself, the more I say Ivey is that backup point guard. I mean read his attitude on defense. You can't teach that kind of mentality in a basketball player. That's what's inside of him. Garnett and Thibodeau would really appreciate what he can bring to the table for this team.
And think of the versatility coming off Boston's bench. Wallace can be a power forward or center, Daniels can be a shooting guard or small forward and Ivey can be a point guard or shooting guard. The opponents won't know what hit them.

he's a long, tenacious defender who can't shoot or run a team.
sounds like we already have that on our team, Gabe Pruitt.

Pruitt's a better shooter. Reminds me more of Orien Greene.

A back up PG should be able to make a shot...I don`t think Ivey is a good fit...

Funny, how people want to point out Ivey's suspect shooting, but fail to also acknowledge that Daniels isn't a good shooter either. Last time I'd checked, he could be a Celtic soon.
Ivey would be a fine addition, in my opinion. He doesn't shoot very well, but he can shoot good enough. You want Daniels to defend and be a solid backup to Pierce and Ray. Likewise, Ivey can defend and be a solid backup to Rondo. As long as he doesn't turn it over a lot which he hasn't in his career.
Career shooting
Rondo - FG% - .480; 3P% - .271
Wallace - FG% - .471; 3P% - .342
Daniels - FG% - .456; 3P% - .237
Ivey - FG% - .406; 3P% - .336
What they all have in common is that they're all good defensive players. Their shooting is secondary. Wallace is likely the more consistent of the four shooting the ball. Probably, is more clutch as well.

Just because Daniels is part of our bench roation, it is even more important for the backup pg to shoot well. Daniels can create shots for his teammates and spotting up around the 3pt land is a must.

He is a real pest. That's how I noticed him. Sign him while he is still hungry. I don't know anything about his shooting ability but all i know is that defense wins you titles. We have best shooters in the league from Walace, Ray, House and even Pierce. I am 100% with this petition because there is no one else like him.

Yeah the fact that Daniels can't shoot 3's is a main reason we can't take ANOTHER guy who can't shoot. And I thought Daniels issue was more that he doesn't have 3 point range, doesn't he have an ok-ish midrange game?

First, a petition for Powe, an injured player, now a petition for Ivey, who can't shoot.
What's next.

I don't understand how people are fine with Rondo starting and having Pierce and Ray as shooters, but aren't fine with Ivey likely having Wallace and House as shooter in the second unit. That sounds like a contradiction to me. Because if the rationale is that Rondo is effective with dribble penetration to the the basket. Ivey's capable of getting to the basket as well.
I think people on here are simply against Ivey. No open-mindedness, no compromise. If we were talking about Marbury or Iverson, your tune would change.
Boston needs a competent point guard to run the offense, limit the turnovers, defend, rotate, create spacing by shooting and to become a threat offensively if need be. Ivey can do these. You wouldn't ask a lot of minutes of him. I just don't see how it's fair to condemn him but not do the same toward Rondo. I think he can thrive with Boston. I really like his attitude on defense, his size and energy or hustle. I understand that his career statistics don't jump out at you. However, I'm curious to see how he could perform playing on a contending team, playing eighteen to twenty minutes a game. Let him play with others who'll think as he does on defense. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if his basketball IQ is higher than Tony's.

The biggest knock on Rondo is that he can't shoot. The Celtics don't want another Rondo as a backup pg, they need something different for games when the opposition has been able to force Rondo to shoot bad shots.

I'd rather have Poison Ivy then sign Royal Ivey. The guy isn't even a has been, he's a neverwas. He sucks.
