Re: Welcome back Starbury?
I've said all along that with a full training camp and off-season with the team, there is a huge gap between what he brings and the other available players for the same price
maybe this is why they are trying to sign and trade for Quis rather then sign him, so they can offer steph a little bit more
I understand why people are hesitant to keep him, but i think its the best option
we'll see i guess

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
He's better than the scrap heap guys. I think what is key is he has the strength to guard bigger players, which means an Eddie/Steph backcourt isn't such a massive liability. Hey he's good enough to be a back-up at least..

I agree. I'd love to just bring back Baby, sign Marbury, and call it an offseason. We'd be loaded for bear. I think with a full training camp Marbury would be a great backup to Rondo.

A S&T involving Scal for Daniels and then giving the bi-annual to Marbury should make Ainge Executive of the Year.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
Sweet. Steph played good D in the Chicago series and had that awesome game 5 against Orlando.
Steph/House/Daniels/Sheed/BBD?
That's a nasty bench.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
I was really hoping Steph would come to his senses and resign. Granted, he's not going to get paid a ton, but he's made his money already. If he wants to win, there's no better place than with his boy KG. With a full offseason, training camp, and preseason, I think we'll see a much improved Marbury over last years out of game shape version.
If this is true, I hope we resign Baby (so long as its reasonable, I'm comfortable that DA is the one making this decision) and get ready for another championship run. I honestly feel comfortable saying, on paper, that we are the best team in the league.
Rondo/Marbuy/Pruitt
Ray/House/Daniels
Pierce/Daniels/Walker
KG/Sheed/Baby/Scal
Perk/Sheed/Baby
That's downright scary.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
So, why would we give him the biannual exception? It makes no sense. We can offer him just as much or more without using it...
That would allow us to use the LLE on another player or next offseason...
But I would like to see Marbury back in green...

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
The source isn't really certified, is it? This NES24/7 guy posted on this board for awhile. I wonder where he went? Probably just stuck with his own website.
But if it happens. This would be awesome. Get starbury and Big Baby back and you have a great off-season.
Rondo/Starbury
Ray/House
Pierce/Daniels
KG/Baby
Perk/Sheed
Minus daniels (who I like), that is the lineup I wanted and sought from the beggining of this off-season. Throughout the rondo and ray rumors.
Get it done Danny. Then let's start this season!!!

I hope he is back!!!
Our average age just hit about 45...but so what!! He played good team D last season....our D gets better with each signing.

Is there any reason we would give him the LLE or biannual exception? I thought we could give him a raise from last year that would be close to that.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
I don't get this at all. What's the difference between $1.3M and $1.9M? My understanding of the Bi-annual exception is that it can be up to two years. Marbury was offered only a one-year contract, initially. So what changed his mind? A second year?
If this comes to fruition, I'm really disappointed right now in Ainge. Dammit. His goddamn ass is coming back. Ugh. This is frustrating... The horror!
I'm sorry Ivey, I'd tried.

Celtics free agent guard Stephon Marbury said to The Globe early Friday morning that he doesn't expect to be returning to Boston after receiving a disappointing one-year contract offer paying $1.3 million using the veteran's minimum.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
With a full training camp under his belt and a re-signing of Baby I would be ecstatic
I don't even like Marbury but were not getting a better backup than that for peanuts. I'm not holding my breathe though. I just want the Baby thing to be over and they are still pretty much stacked.

Re: Welcome back Starbury?
I have been saying this all along that Marbury would be back and I don't have any source. Marbury never had any intention of leaving Boston he was just trying to get more cash. Don't blame him. Welcome back.
