RIP Reggie Lewis....Passed away 16 years ago today--Imagine if we had him guarding Jordan and Bias going against Pippen in the 90's....hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Celts would have 18+ banners if we didn't have those 2 tragic deaths.

It really would have depended on what we put next to them, but we could have been consistent title contenders or at least had an early 90's version of Pierce/Walker.

Watching clips of him and Bias makes me angry. Man did we have a bad run until 2007-08.

Reggie had just grabbed the crown as my favorite player from Larry when he passed. RIP.

Wow , I almost forget how GREAT basketball player he is. If he was alive and play with len bais then we'd walk all the way to the championship in no time. Damn Reggie and len ...RIP!

Exactly...and we all had to listen to the LOUDMOUTHS who would say things like: "The Celtics haven't won anything in 22 years"........When your 2 best players pass away--it can screw your franchise for years.

He was and would have been a great one.....what a misfortune.....my heart still weeps... ...for the C's.....as when Lenny is thought of.....

I was real young so only got to watch Reggie a couple of times, who would you guys compare him to and how good was he?

Believe it or not, I was at this game. It was Easter Sunday and this game either went into double or triple overtime. We sat in front of one of the small scoreboards near the floor at the old Garden

MJ hit a shot as the clock expired that would have won it, but didn't get it off in time. The 3 that you see Reggie hit here was his first of the season. It was the best regular season game I've ever been to.

We used to go to games once a year back then and either a year or two later we lucked out and went to the Blazers game in which Larry canned that one handed 3 in the double OT victory.

I was only 13 or 14 when he passed, but I remember his pet shot was a sick pull-up jumper from the elbow. Same spot as Pierce, but he relied more on his quickness to get his man moving back and then he'd arch way back. Pretty unblockable and he was money with it.

Not sure of a great comparision, but Reggie Miller called Lewis a carbon copy of himself during this year's playoffs. You wish Miller. Lewis didn't have the stroke or the range, but he was better at everything else.

I've never seen anyone better at stopping on a dime and going straight up for a jump shot than Reggie Lewis---it was unstoppable (like Kareem's sky hook)...and he was only 27-just entering his prime.

Think Rip Hamilton, but taller and with better handles. His pull-up was cash. I loved trying to copy his shot out in the playground. Just lull your man to sleep with a few dribbles, go hard at the rim, stop on a dime and just elevate. Reggie was able to get his shot off quite easily since at 6-7, he was taller than most shooting guards. The man was an absolute killer during the 4th quarter, when it seemed like he'd never miss the baseline jumper.

And Reggie was an absolute monster whenever the playoffs hit. His scoring averages would increase in the post-season. He absolutely destroyed Reggie Miller and the Pacers in the 1st round in 1992 (these were the same Pacers that took them to 5 games in the 1st round the year before) and later followed that up with a 42 (or 43) point game against the Cavs in the next round, a game which they should have won. Reggie was fouled at the end of the game, but the refs didn't call it.

The thing I remember the most about Reggie was his quiet demeanor. I never saw him whine or argue with the refs, unlike 90% of today's stars. I don't believe he ever got a technical foul ever. And when he'd hit a clutch shot, Reggie wouldn't be running around pumping his fist, popping his jersey, etc. Reggie would just run to the bench with a shy smile that he was trying to hide. Very easy guy to cheer for. It's too bad he's gone. I've never cried for a person dying whom I've never met before. On July 27, 1993, it almost happened. My eyes welled up really hard. I seriously thought it was a cruel joke my parents were playing on me.

Tragic.

Reggie was one of my favorites. God bless you Reggie. I always thought Lewis was better than Reggie Miller.
