1) DHEA (dihydroepiandrosterone), androstenedione, and derivatives of "andro" known as "designer steroids" are anabolic steroids (as opposed to catabolic steroids such as the glucocorticoid, prednisone which is appropriately used to treat many different diseases) and are regulated by the DEA. These unapproved anabolic steroids are the drugs that athletes are abusing. Many of these anabolic steroids can be detected. They are all precursors of testosterone, i.e. they are converted to testosterone in the adrenal glands and gonads. Potential dangers include testicular atrophy/infertility, hepatic tumors, enlargement of the prostate, more viscous blood because the hematocrit increases, and decrease in HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol).
2) Human growth hormone (hGH) is also abused as you all know. Detection is more difficult, but is improving every day. If anyone wants to hear more gory medical details about the pros and cons of the inappropriate use of hGH in the prevention of aging, or for athletic enhancement, please indicate same, and I will provide a short summary. In short, in particular with regard to the use of hGH to prevent aging, the answer is very clear today - MINIMAL BENEFIT AND SIGNIFICANT RISK (including the precipitation of diabetes mellitus/impaired glucose tolerance, and fluid retention resulting in edema, carpal tunnel syndrome, and aggravated hypertenstion, etc. If anyone wants to read about this, pull out the January 2007 issue of the Annals of Internal Medicine, and look for a "systematic review of the use of hGH as an anti-aging therapy".
I hope none of our guys got sucked into this.
GO GREEN FOREVER.
Ya I have a question and Im a Laker fan......... I hope thats okay with you.
So your a endocrinologist???
Now I know a little about Steriods and Growth, well not a little but a good amount and Im not a endocrinologist, but when you are making claims that
Potential dangers include testicular atrophy/infertility, hepatic tumors, enlargement of the prostate, more viscous blood because the hematocrit increases, and decrease in HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol).
Are you saying this for longterm users or user that lets say have done a few cycles or lets say one cycle??? Or maybe health risks can be produced by longterm users or excessive doses, because I can promise you that either your not being clear about your post or your not accurate on your information your sharing on here. Im assuming "Your not being clear about your information".
Also this comment.

Are you actually saying that growth has minimal benefits and segnificant risks?
SInce Im amazed that you claim that, and that it only plays a role in anti aging and for athletic enhancement. Im also confused about that remark as well since I know growth can also Increases muscle mass, Increases fat breakdown for energy, Conserves blood glucose and muscle glycogen storage, Increases height in the skeletally immature individual, Increases size of hands, feet, and jaw
Enhances healing of musculoskeletal injuries, Increases protein synthesis which can enhance weight loss, regrowth of vital orgins, and so on and so on.
Also Im confused since you posted
for athletic enhancement,
I believe no one and I mean no one has been able to support claims that growth can improve the athletic performance of professional male athletes, no one. Specially and I mean specially athletes under the age of 30.
So I would love to hear a bit more breakdown on both of my question, but let me be very clear. Im not saying your wrong but your information is a bit not accurate and also some what misleading.
Again I hope you dont take my post in a negative way or me challenging you on your knowledge, its just I have a lot of interest on this subject............ Thats all.
Looking forward to hear your feedback.
