The case for Marbury

There are lots of reasons NOT to bring back Stephon Marbury, the most notable being that he didn't play all that well when he was here. But there are some good reasons to consider adding him to the roster: 1) with a full training camp he should do better 2) he was coming off an injury as well as not playing for a long time 3) he is a proven PG who knows how to run a team 4) he's a proven scorer in this league and he showed some flashes especially late in the Orlando series 5) he has good size for a pg and actually was a much better defender than I thought he would be and 6) he can hit the 3 point shot which helps to open up the floor.

Agree with all of that until I watched the UStream.
The guy ate vaseline, and is clearly off his rocker.
Why would you even take that risk on for a 10th man?
Plus, I see no indication from watching the guy that he is motivated to get the rust off.
He seems rather complacent and I just don't see anything about him that says, "Champion."

But he isn't going to play. There is not going to be a mins for a 5th guard, they may not even dress if Tony Allen is still here. Do you think that is a role that suits Marbury?
I think we can get the same positives with Ty Lue and a player who can accept the role.
Now if Marbury shows at camp like Kandiman a couple of years ago and is just saying "Please give me a job I will be the 15th man I just wan't to be a part of this," that is and would be something else.

There will be minutes, at least in the regular season.
Daniels is going to get a lot of his run backing up Pierce and Allen.
It's why we got him.
I'm guessing that the rotation will basically be:
Rondo/Some dude we haven't signed yet
Allen/House/Walker
Pierce/Daniels

LOL
That's literally everyone in the NBA, though.
You ever meet any of these guys?

Marbury would dress before Tony Allen 100 times out of 100.

1. Why do you say this? He's 33, way past his prime, and instead of spending time in the gym to get in shape for the season he's making U-stream videos
2. He still hasn't played in a long time and he doesn't seem to be doing much this offseason. Plus he's pretty much broadcasted what he's been doing on the Internet all offseason, so we pretty much know. He gave out his home phone number for crying out loud.
3. When did Marbury ever, in his entire career prove that he is a PG who knows how to run a team? We've been through this so many times. Career loser. Teams get worse when he joins and better when he leaves. Boston will probably be the latest example of this phenomenon.
4. He had one good quarter as a Celtic.
5. He was not a good defender for the Celtics, he was a complete liability. Did you watch the games?
6. He's a career 33% shooter. 24% during the regular season, 25% during the playoffs for the Celtics last year. This guy can shoot the three?
How many Marbury threads can people make? This place in unbearable sometimes. There should just be one post for all things Marbury.

Are you serious? And if so, do I really want to know why?

I have to admit that I didn't see his video/rant so perhaps I should watch it. I'm not saying the guy is without flaws, I'm just saying that for what we need he fits the bill pretty well. But hey Tyrone Lue might do the job just as well. I really thought earl watson was the guy to go after. I also have always liked charlie bell. kevin ollie is probably out there some where

This is truth. He was a complete liability on the defensive end. I don't know what the person who said he played solid defense is even talking about or if they were watching the games. The one good quarter he had in Game 5 he didn't even cut into the lead. He scored 4 straight times and the Magic countered 4 straight times with a basket. It wasn't until he came out that we reallly went on our run.

For most of you that want Marbury back you have to ask yourself a few questions:
Will Marbury accept playing behind House as the third PG?
Will he accept the fact that there will only be minutes for him if there are injuries or blow outs?
Will ha accept the fact that he may be inactive for some games?
I know that he can say he accepts this, but that wasn't the case in NY. His reaction to this will be like AI's in Detroit, so is it worth the distraction that he may bring later to this team if unhappy? I can remember the look on his face quite a few times last year when Doc pulled him out of games when he played only short stints. Yor facial expressions don't lie and he was not comfortable being in that situation, but he knew if he wanted a future he had to acceept it. I vote no to Marbury for the sheer fact that there are no minutes for him and he won't be happy about his role here.

He'll accept the roles, because nobody else is interested in him, and apparently the only thing holding him from his next career of webcaming himself eating vaseline while wearing his underwear is the hope the Celtics throw him a bone as the 15'th guy on the roster.
Personally at this point I think that there is no way this guy keeps his head together long enough to last a season. I don't know whether he fell on his head (many times) after the season or whether the Celtics just gave him a temporary frontal lobotomy which expired after the Celtics season did, however I've got to think the Celtics can find someone with half a mind to play for them. PG is supposed to be a leader of sorts, people don't follow someone they think should be institutionalized.

Here's a question, if you were forced to sign one, would you rather sign Marbury or AI to back up Rondo?

^ AI may score A LOT more, but I'd prefer Marbury, especially seeing AI's situation last year in Motown.

I rather have a player that will never touch the ball and cares about the game of basketball.
Over AI or Marbury.
This team doesn't need a talented misguided egotistical "hero", we could use an experienced PG to help run a team.
An those pathetic players of AI and Marbury deserve to be out of the NBA.
