http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/bost ... in-boston/Hmmm. John Locke, I'll pay your ticket over here, if you promise to employ me when you make it big time. All I ask for is 60-40, in favor of me.
Seriously though, have you ever heard of a team doing this before? I haven't, at least in the NBA.

Didn't the Denver Nuggets do this a while back? I may be mistaken...

Wonder how much a 5'9 160lb out of shape 23yr old who can shoot the 3 at a 8% clip would interest them..
That is pretty cool though.

I'm gonna try out. Why not. 6 foot 2, 180lbs great shape, good shoot, terrible ball handling skills. Who do they already have lined up to play the 3?

Plenty of teams have had "Walter Mitty" camps over the years. If anyone here remembers Jerry Sichting from the 80's Celtics that's how he got on the Pacers. Guy was working in a sporting goods store after his Purdue career or something in Indiana and then went to this camp that the Pacers were holding and made the team..
Just a little inspiration..

I have very fond memories of Jerry. He was at my basketball camp in Norwich, VT back in 1988 and I had a chance to play him one on one. I jumped out to a 10-0 lead, then he started playing. He his 12 straight 19-25ft jumpers on me in a row with my hand in his face. Yes, I was only a 17yr old player, but I was 5'10 and he was barely 6'1" and I don't think the ball ever touched the rim. Pretty cool though and he was a really cool guy.

Jerry was a GREAT shooter. In that era he was one of the best, kind of a white Eddie House, although I think he could do a few more things. He was as huge as Walton on the 85-86 team because behind DJ and Danny that had nothing but scrubs before he came..

First, a D League Team having open tryouts is not the same as an NBA team having open tryouts.
Second, there was a time, when all the NBA teams had open tryouts.
