Veterans J. Williams, Iverson and Tinsley still unsigned
Well, Anthony Carter just resigned with Denver. So the best case scenario for Boston as I see it is for New York to sign Sessions (they like Williams), Miami signs Iverson or Tinsley and Williams choosing between Memphis, Orlando and maybe Boston. I'd read that Orlando has little money left, Memphis doesn't want to offer him a lot (no more than the veteran minimum) and Boston could be an option if Daniels is acquired via a sign-and-trade as oppose to having to use the Bi-annual exception. From this, Ainge could sign Williams to a one-year contract as a backup to Rondo. I believe the $1.9M one-year offer will be the most Williams can expect from a team if it comes down to Orlando and Memphis and Boston if Ainge has an interest in him.
Guards
1 - Rondo and Williams
2 - Ray and House
Daniels plays some at guard but more at forward, and Tony is available as insurance in case of injuries. While Walker or Giddens see some time at forward and, like Tony, play guard in a pinch or in a blowout.
Garnett, Pierce, Perkins, Rondo and Ray
Davis, Daniels, Wallace, Williams and House
Scalabrine, Walker, S. Williams, fill-in and Giddens or Tony
Hudson won't be signed...

Re: Veterans J. Williams, Iverson and Tinsley still unsigned
I like the proposed idea of getting Daniels and Williams but I think you contradict yourself by acquiring Daniels via sign and trade and then having a roster with both Scal and Tony on it. One would have to go, and perhaps Giddens, too.
If J Williams comes here then yes, Hudson may not be signed, but actually I'd take both. I think Lester is going to be on the roster this year.

I'll b surprised if Allen Iverson signs with us then it's gunna be awesome however I have feelings that Allen Iverson might end up sign with Orlando Magic ....lets wait and see what happens.
EDIT: O Yeah I'd rather to have Iverson over Marbury all day !

I'm speaking hypothetically so I probably lost track and wrote the units as was for structure.
But yeah, Walker or Giddens have to go. I don't think Indiana wants either Tony or Scalabrine. The former are young, and have more upside by comparison. Also, by subtracting either Walker or Giddens, then you open the door a tad to sign Hudson. However, Ainge likely would rather keep one roster spot open. And Hudson and agent won't like the idea of getting signed but playing little to none at all. He doesn't want to play overseas.
Wait a minute, I thought it was reported that supposedly the Daniels situation would hopefully be resolved by Friday. Today's Friday!

Okay it looks like I'm talkin about reversed now. I just read celticsblog that Danny Angie is slowing show some interest in Allen Iverson if that happens then Ill b damned cos we got off bench killer players.
go SIGN him NOW DANNY.
PS: Sorry for the misspelled tonight so forgiven me lol.

Im surprised by the results of that poll. You would think that if AI wanted to sign here for the min or even LLE we would jump all over it. I mean he would have to know he isn't gonna start and the money is so small we coud cut bench or trade him if he caused any problems. AI in the second unit could be great. 20-25 minutes a night were he could be the first option and we could rest the starters.

Iverson won't want to come off of the bench. Therein lies the problem. But Boston has House so Iverson's place in the rotation is occupied.
Signing J. Williams for the bench makes the most sense if it were a realistic possibility to sign him and he proves to be healthy and ready to play. I've an interest in Tinsley but he could be a potential PR nightmare if his past transgressions start over again.

Re: Veterans J. Williams, Iverson and Tinsley still unsigned
honestly... if he came here, id love it... the attitude, whatever... serisously, you think by the time he got here he wouldnt have spoken in depth to the big 3, sheed, danny, etc...?
yes he says he doesnt want to come off the bench, if thats the case he will find out pretty quickly boston isnt an option and look elsewhere (if the interest is actually true)
but if... IIIIFFFFF he thinks screw this, screw the medias opinion, screw the stats... im gonna win and prove everyone i can, which is exactly where his head would HAVE to be at for DA to consider him, id be all over it... id sit here laughing at the screen the day i heard it knowing we just added one of the most explosive weapons there is
it wont happen, the slight chance that it will isnt enough to even give me slight hope, i know AI wont be a celtic... and thats ok... but damn, imagine if he was

J-Will reportedly screwed up and played like crap in his Grizz workout.
So I rather have Tinsley, and of the 3..
1. A.I
2. Tinsley
3. J-Will
Heck I'd give Flip Murray a shot.

^Here's what you read into it.
And here's what Celticsblog said:
I don't know of any published rumors linking the Celtics with the Allen Iverson, but he's still out there, Danny has shown an interest in him in the past, and well, ...it is slow around here (besides, many of you have already brought this up). So here's a topic to debate.
Big difference.
Of course, Danny will be doing his job to look into signing one of the most prolific scorers in the past fifteen years to a cheap contract, but there hasn't been any reported recent interest.
Iverson needs to do a little soul searching and decide how he wants the final chapter of his legacy to read. Right now there is a big ol' stain there. A ring on his finger would be a nice stain remover, but I'm not convinced A.I. can make the mental shift to vet role player.

Great, 2 of the 3 players in the league I dislike most. If Iverson came for cheap, I'd bring him on board though. I hate JW and Tinsley though.

Re: Veterans J. Williams, Iverson and Tinsley still unsigned
The logic behind targeting J. Williams is that he has already won a championship with Miami and could be open to the idea of finding a niche off of the bench for Boston like Posey. However, if Williams has it in his head that he still wants to be a starter in the league at his age. Then you pass on him.
I know he and Posey isn't the best comparison because Posey wasn't coming back from retirement. Still, both had won a title and Williams could be willing to be a backup for an opportunity at winning another championship. That is, if money isn't the determining factor in his decision.
Iverson and, most likely, Tinsley desire to start for their new team. Therefore, Ainge could've an easier task of signing Williams and convincing him to take a lesser role to join a contending team and give him the feeling he's wanted.

NBA players say they don't want to come off the bench, often they mean that they don't want to be relegated to a lesser minute unimportant role on a team. You have to look past what they say. People don't know themselves so well, talk off of instinct...
I doubt we sign AI but geez for the vet min or LLE he is an absolute no-brainer IMO. If you are worried about him being a cancer, then you need a new coaching staff or better veteran presence (which we definitely don't need).

Re: Veterans J. Williams, Iverson and Tinsley still unsigned
If New York can manage to acquire Rubio from Minnesota, whenever his buyout price is resolved, this can only help teams in need of a veteran point guard by eliminating another team from the competition for players.
From Realgm...
From Realgm...
With Minnesota Timberwolves' President David Kahn bound for Spain this week, some feel the trip isn't necessarily to bring Ricky Rubio back to Minnesota.
One insider tells RealGM's Alex Kennedy that Kahn could be working out a scenario where Rubio would be dealt to the New York Knicks.
"The Knicks have closed off negotiations with all free agent point guards until next week," says the source. "I think they're making a push for Rubio and if that fails, then they'll reopen talks with their other options.
"Kahn and [Knicks' President] Donnie Walsh are close and New York is looking for a cheap point guard who could help attract free agents next summer. Rubio fits that mold. I think that's what this latest trip to Spain is about, working something out with New York."

J. Williams would be okay for us IMHO. He is a good passer and can hit the occasion 3 ball. Sure he can't play D but KG should be able to mop up some of his mistakes.
I don't like Tinsley (serious attitude problem without the talent). Iverson with his ego in check would be a coup but that seems impossible.
