Captain_Caveman wrote:I remember seeing Blur in Bill's Bar in early 92. My buddy dragged me along. There were like 10 people there, and the guitar player was so drunk he couldn't even stand, never mind play. Manager got on stage and kicked them out about 3 songs in. He grabbed dude's guitar and tried to keep it as like a breach of contract or something, which obviously led to bedlam.

Anyhow, the bouncers forcibly removed them from the premises.

Good show, lol.

Captain Caveman, I'd like to talk to you further about this, if possible...let me know in this thread if you wouldn't mind and then we could email privately (I'm working with the band on their archive project)...

I wish there was more to tell you. It was a long time ago, and it all happened in a flash. My friend dragged me along after having going on about them for a couple of days.

Not sure, but it might have been their first ever American show. And I still remember how angry the bar manager was. Too funny.

Feel free to ask them if I have the details right, but I'm pretty sure I do... lol.

Anyhow, they are my 2nd favorite English-speaking band with an Icelandic fixation behind the Brian Jonestown Massacre, so good stuff.

Best song nobody knows (vid unrelated):

Thanks for the tidbit. It wasn't their first American show (those were in late '91) but this was the tour that nearly blew the band apart...

Never heard of this band before, but that was a really good song. Any more recommendations from them?

^^ Think Gorillaz...Damon Alborn who 'invented' the gorillas is/was the lead singer in Blur. Was more of a Pulp fan myself at Blurs height.....

You should rent the documentary called DiG!

Totally over the top, but a good enough primer on the band and the death of rock and roll. Really a band that was poised to break in a big way if not for their own drug-addled insanity.

They have like 15 albums, but here's a few other tracks worth hearing...

And still making drug-induced music today. Were supposed to be on Letterman recently until someone decided that they were completely batsh-t and a risk to say or do anything.

Are you talking about Blur or Brian Jonestown Massacre?
