Just a thought I had today. We have 7 mil in expirings. Everyone is talking about who we could get and it occured to me we at least have the option of taking an undesirable player/contract to get a pick. Probably a long shot but I wonder is there anyone getting paid around 7 mil a season that a lotto team would give up a pick to move?

well we were rumored to be targeting Nocioni at the deadline last season. I think there is a chance we could get him with our expirings but no way could we get their pick along with him,a second rounder maybe.

if we have 7 mill in expiring why not target stephen jackson he is due to make 7.65 million next year. i must say that isnt a bad backup to have off the bench!

I lol'ed twice. That's something a Laker''s fan would seriously offer us.

Nocioni is a good idea but Stephen Jackson is a better fit IMO. Both players are signed through 2012 @ $8-10M. Trading for either player might not be the best long-term investment but it's still worth it. With Jackson, or even Nocioni we are extending the championship window by at least one year.

What would it take to get Jackson? Probably TA, Scal, Walker/Giddins, and (unfortunately) Eddie House.

Anyone have any thoughts on the topic of the thread?

Thinking about it, I didn't really answer the question. Thinking again, the answer is no. No team worth trading with (for a somewhat desirable pick - in the lottery or mid-teens) is considering a trade for next years draft right now. I think the bigger question is why the Celtics would sacrifice great chemistry a month before training camp begins to take on a "any bad contracts plus a pic." There's no way that happens.
