I'm guessing that he will never play in the NBA. Besides, the Celts are STACKED at his natural position(s). Beating out Shelden Williams (the former #5 overall pick) for the fifth big man slot - no way. Big Baby won't be getting the minutes he deserves as the fourth big man behind Perk, KG and Rasheeeeed Wallace.

Erden is probably running through the streets of Istanbul in his Hedo Turkoglu jersey...so.....yeah.

I believe he was injured most of last year, probably a lost year on development. It's interesting that there hasn't been a word about the guy since the post draft press conference over a year ago. I doubt he's even in the mix for TC invite this year, I expect the earliest we'll see him is summer league next year.

We took a flier on him as a project big with the last pick of the draft. Basically, he's an undrafted free agent that we wanted to hold rights onto. I wouldn't hold your breath or anticipate him coming over unless he really breaks out in Europe.

See Pepper, Ben.

We don't really have a roster spot for Danny's long lost son, Robert Swift. How are we going to have a spot for Semi?

He'll be in europe where he will still be irrelevant even in the euroleague unless he takes a major step forward.

He sucks hard. Doubt he'll ever be in the league.

After struggling in the first few matches of the tourney, Erden put in a good performance against Pau Gasol & Co.

He's finished the game with 11 points (4/6 FG, 3/4 FT), 6 rebounds (3 offensive & 3 defensive), 2 blocks and 2 steals in 24 minutes. Turkey won the match 63 - 60.

At the end of this season, when Brian Scalabrine's contract expires, the
Celtics might consider bringing him over for the 2011 season.

I could see this coming to fruition. With Giddens, Walker, and likely Hudson on the roster, you can't really add another project to the team without sacraficing quality depth in case of injury. By next offseason, Celts should have made a decision on the readiness of both Giddens and Walker to contribute to a winning cause. Bring in Erden and the 2010 first round pick to develop, as the rest of the roster should consist primarily of contributors only.

He's already beating Lakers players....

"The Boston Celtics 2008 second round draft pick Semih Erden has yet to play in an NBA game, but he has already defeated one of the Los Angeles Lakers. On Saturday he helped Turkey defeat Pau Gasol and the Spanish team in the EuroBasket 2009 Group F qualifying round."

Erden out muscled Gasol for a rebound at about the :27 second mark. He also iced the game with two clutch FT's.

Very good 4th quarter by Erden against Spain. That is the best I have seen him play...

He looks a little stronger, more filled out this year. Maybe he'll be invited over next summer.
