Doc commenting on Garnett

Just saw this on CSN Sports Tonight. When asked about Garnett Doc Rivers said, "He's ready. He'll be ready on the first day of camp. He's fine."

Good news. Since KG hasn't gone full throttle yet we'll still have to wait and see, but that's an encouraging statement.

Yea, i just posted something about how I doubt KG will be ready for the preseason based on Ainge's previous comments. I guess that's a moot point now but I still think he's going to have a difficult year. Hopefully I'm wrong on this one.

Didn't Doc also guarantee KG in the playoffs last year?Yeaaaaaaah...

I'm not buying that just yet. He seems fine, and I saw him playing half court ball on the video with the Paul Pierce interview. But I'm still very concerned about KG..he doesn't play up and down the court yet, and we are less than 2 months away from the season. At this point we would all hope he would be at least playing full court basketball...I'm kind of getting worried.. :-?

he has been running and shooting in court drills so hes probably in much better shape than many people are assuming. the organization is taking many precautions in bringing him back and will take as much time as necessary.

He just had surgery a few months ago. It will take him some time to be at full strength. Hopefully that will occur some time in the first half of the season

KG should be OK, if he's committed to play the cerebral/floor game he'll be fine. At 33 I suppose he's about to leave the athletic game. He's smart and savvy and guys like that excel in the floor game.

The Celtics could have KG skip training camp, and play the last 2 preseason games, and KG and the team would probably be better off.

this is starting to sound like last season towards the end. i remember i was at a nets celtics game and i got a chance to talk to wyc grousbeck. i asked him when is kg coming back ( mind you this was on march 4th at the izod center) he told me " in about a week or two hes fine" so i dont know what to belive anymore they are so secretive when it comes to kg sometimes it is a little frustrating. i am hoping kg will let us hear that he is ok from his own mouth and i will be alot more relieved. btw i have some awesome pix from some of the games i went to i will post them later today :D

Will you please define cerebral/floor game? I'm assuming you mean that KG will have to rely on his mind more that his body but, how exactly does one do that?

How is the floor game different than the game of basketball? Doesn't one rely heavily on both cerebral and athletic ability? The game of basketball, by nature, is much more mental than you're giving credit - 90% (mental) vs. 10 (physical) some might say.

Respek.

Not really worried.

But I don't trust any KG predictions from Danny, Doc, or Wes. KG is not ready now and don't be surprised if he's not ready to go full at the start of the season. Our record is important and we want homecourt if we can but we have to be healthy. If KG needs to wait til December then let's wait. He is the key. Something is going on and I don't like it. Let's go Sheed!

I don't know how healthy KG is, but regardless, the C's are doing the right thing by limiting him.
The people freaking out are probably the same ones who freak out when KG or Ray or Paul play 43 mins in a game.

The fact is, wear and tear doesn't distinguish between practice and games. Playing full court in September runs down KGs knee pretty much as much as playing in a playoff game in July. There's no reason to put any more wear and tear on KG than necessary. He doesn't need the practice. He doesn't need to learn the plays or work on his game. He just has to stay healthy.
