Could the Celtics land Dwade?

Post#1 » by Travis_Knight » Fri Sep 18, 2009 7:36 am

Resign Rondo to a 3 year 30 million contract, and slightly less for ray allen. Then package rondo and allen plus draftpicks for wade before the trade deadline. Wade could handle the pg duties, pierce at shooting guard, then the frontline of rasheed, kg and perkins.

If the heat really thought they were gonna lose wade for nothing, they might pull the trigger on this. I don't think cleveland would entertain lebron offers at all. If rondo and allen are resigned to low budget deals then their contracts become especially valuable. They are a championship caliber backcourt for a good price.

Yes. IMO Wade is part of our plans. Does Wade want to come here? That's another story. I hoe he does.

I'd like to see Wade here, but that lineup you posted is garbage.

We will never see KG at SF. And we won't see Wade at PG. We'd just have to find a PG in free agency.

You lost me @ "resign Rondo to 3/$30 million." The money is about right but the years are low. Every good, young PG in this league typically re-signs for 5 or 6 years. But, even if this trade goes through (which it definitely won't), you want to play Wade at the point? Apparently you've been missing the excess of links titled "Celts need back-up PG." Sorry to offend but you're reasoning is whack on several fronts. Wade will play out the year with Miami because they own his bird rights and Riley is stubborn. End of story.

As I explained in the Rondo extension thread, any type of extension is going to make Rondo extremely difficult to trade over the next 3 years.

If we sign him it is to keep him.

He could play in Boston, not necessarily just NY or Chicago. Yes, those are big name cities but Boston is rigt up there. What's the knock on Boston? Tough sports town? Green is one bold color? I mean as long as your a star player, Boston will do just as fine as NY media and market. KG is doing fine. He's plastered all the over the place and on the TV with those addidas commercials.

Would D Wade like to play on a team with KG. I couldn't imagine why not. Specially knowing that he is the franchise and that at least here in Boston the owners and GM are willing to put it all on the line to go get people to build around a player in order to win championships. Down in Miami they banked on Shaq and got lucky but other than that......that orginization is kind of garbage in terms of getting right personal to fit pieces.

Is it likely to happen? Probably not, i'm sure NY is eye balling him all the way. I can't say it's 99% certain he's not coming though.

We don't mess with our big men. Perk and KG start. Keep Pierce at his natural position. If we traded Rondo and Ray for Wade, We need another shooter in the starting lineup, like we would have had with Ray. They don't need to necessarily be a true point. With playmakers like Wade, Pierce, and KG, we don't need that. We need someone to hit shots like Ray did when said players make a play for him. The Celtics have clearly been incredibly successful without having a "true" point guard. Same with the Bulls, Lakers, etc.

Perk
KG
Pierce
Wade

Daniels

if he wanted to win he would go to chicago who has the best supporting young cast to surround him with. also big plus that its his home town.

Maybe. But maybe Chicago doesn't even make the playoffs while the Celtics win another title. Then the picture might look different to a free agent.

Not in the way the OP is suggesting but I think he's on Danny's list for sure. Wade and Doc have the Marquette connection and seem extremely friendly. Wade was one of the only people to have come out before game 6 of the 08 finals and say the Celtics were going to crush the Lakers without a doubt.

If there's a will there's a way.

Or maybe I'm just delusional.

Either way, it's a nice fantasy.

Rondo has the most trade value if he's not extended- we'd trade his Bird rights and his small salary and he'd become a restricted free agent for the team that acquired him.

Rondo/Allen for Wade is a hell of a big trade, especially if Rondo continues to improve and Allen shows some longevity. But Wade is so good that I think you have to pull the trigger.

Lol, no way!

The Heat have Chalmers, and they'll accept an old Ray and Rajon?

Pat Riley will laugh at giving away Wade.

Rondo >>>>>>> Chalmers

It's not a matter of giving away Wade, it could be a matter of getting Rondo instead of having Wade walk to the Bulls for nothing.

The way I see it, we could definitely add a player like Wade but only for max money and only if we are still genuine contenders.

Otherwise, he will be signing some where more "desirable" (Miami, LA, Chicago etc).

Rondo, Ray, and two 1st rounders for Wade and Chalmers? That could work.
