Delonte is a classic newb with Bipolar. Like many others who are relatively recently diagnosed, he still thinks he can get by without treating or medicating it (he can't). He was quoted as having trouble maintaining his meds recently. There is no such thing as "having trouble" swallowing some pills (actually there is, but not in relation to this), but there is a such thing as denial or simply loving the hypomanic state and wanting more. It takes a while and a few negative experiences (none too drastic or detrimental to your health, career or personal relationships if you're lucky) before most people realize that the good that can come from a manic episode is nowhere near the immediate or long-term destruction it will ultimately wreak on your life.
I just hope he doesn't get himself killed or seriously effed up doing something stupid before he fully grasps the severity of the illness and the importance of treating it properly. I hate to say it but it's probably going to cut his career much shorter than it should be if he keeps on this way, and that would be a shame.
