KG good, Tony Allen good, Bill Walker not good

Post#1 » by Gant » Wed Sep 30, 2009 7:31 pm

Greg Dickerson csnne.com:
* Kevin Garnett participated in the entire practice today. He said he felt good and was really pleased with his lateral movement on defense. That is the biggest improvement with his knee thus far.

* Celtics guard Tony all practiced today after sitting out yesterday and said his surgically repaired ankle felt good.

* Second year forward Bill Walker was sent home to Boston to have his knee checked out. More details tonight on Mohegan Sun’s Sports Tonight.

More on Bill Walker from boston.com. It doesn't sound good. I hope the kid's ok.

NEWPORT, R.I -- Swingman Bill Walker left practice Wednesday and is headed for Boston to get an MRI on his surgically repaired right knee. Walker tore his left ACL while at Kansas State and then hurt the right knee in a workout with the Golden State Warriors in July 2008 and then had surgery a few weeks later.

Walker, who played 29 games last season with the Celtics and also spent time in the NBDL, likely won't play a significant role early in the season. It is uncertain when Walker will return to training camp.

So TA feels better for his friggin' 7,973rd "comeback" year, while the guy with more promise gets injured instead.

AWESOME.

That sucks...the injury bug just will not leave this kid alone.

Ahh such a disappointment.

At least all signs point to a KG recovery though. Ultimately, he is what matters most to this team, not our third stringers.

that's a bummer but let's face it our season doesn't depend on bill walker (or tony allen for that matter).

as long as The Knee is ok, i don't mind if any other knee is sore.

and... time for JR to step UP baby...

That's too bad about Walker, let's hope it's nothing serious. Does anybody know anything about this new practice facility, is it close to the beach?

Poor Walker...I was hoping to see him get some burn. But will still have Giddens and Hudson..

I really hope the ultimate battle between Walker and Giddens isn't settled due to injuries, similar to Baby and Powe. If it did come to that, so far, I'd be 0 for 2 on the players that have similar roles that I truly wanted.

Don't be so quick to asume the worst - it could be a variety of things...he has a history on both knees, but the majore stuff was 6 years in between and on differnt knees...if he has a hyper extension or cartilege tear I wouldn't be super concerned...the kid has worked out all summer long, the knee has been tested plenty already...doesn't have to be structural...

I watched footage of Celtics practice and KG definitely did not look good. He looked gimpy and had a noticable limp. Honestly, it was very depressing to see. Of course, he isn't that far out from surgery so the fact that he is practicing is a good sign.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

It might not be the same thing, but KG indicated in an interview with the Globe yesterday that he got kicked in the leg at some point in practice yesterday and was hobbling around a bit.

Bill Walker Update:

Per Cs twitter feed, Bill Walker has a torn meniscus and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. It could have been worse, I guess. He only misses a month of the season, if all goes well.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.
