No.

A less plausible hypothetical- if you're Danny Ainge and you get proposed 3 trades- Pierce for Melo, Garnett for Bosh, Allen for Joe Johnson- do you pull the trigger?

If I was Ainge I would do all 3 deals. That basically lets you dominate for the next 10 years or so.

Yep. Bosh is great and when motivated (Olympic games) can be a great defender. Just thinking of Bosh/Rondo/Perk for ten years is awesome.

Does it? You're trading 3 veterans with great attitudes and chemistry for inexperienced youth.. it extends the 'window', but veterans win games.. there would be a reason Denver, Toronto or Atlanta would agree to those trades..

Raptors would never trade Bosh for KG? Seriously?

Its a hypothetical question, it assumes both sides would say yes...

Just because they aren't as old as the Big 3 doesn't mean they aren't experience. You HAVE to do Joe Johnson for Ray. No questions asked. As far as Bosh for KG and Melo for Pierce, personally I would. But I would also understand the argument against them.

Bosh could be a very good defender. He's bulked up so we'll see how that affects his game. Melo reminds me a lot of Pierce and if you put him in the situation Pierce currently has, you'd really see him blow up. JJ > Ray next year. I love Ray and he's still the best shooter in the game, arguably ever, but JJ would be a tremendous 3rd option on this team and can take the reins from Pierce down the line.

Personally, I don't see the point or a need to trade Garnett at this point in his career, and after agreeing to sign him to an extension prior to him agreeing to come to Boston. Moreover, I fail to understand why Toronto would settle on an aging Garnett as oppose to making an earnest attempt to negotiate an extension with Bosh, or trade him for a more appealing offer from another team if they believe Bosh won't resign. Besides, before this season, Garnett has been a reasonably durable player throughout his career. If Karl Malone is an apt comparison, then Garnett should be able to play out his current contract. I mean age is always a factor, but Malone was still a productive player in his thirties.

Only way Raptors do that deal is if they think that Bosh is gone next summer, and they'll settle for something better than nothing. Of course, they could always pray for a sign and trade, which permits a 6th year (versus the normal 5 year max deal when changing teams) and 10% raises (versus the normal 8% when changing teams). But at this point, I don't see Bosh as a max player, so I don't know that the sign and trade way is necessary. Bosh can simply sign with the Knicks or Heat (the two most rumored destinations, he has the same agent as Dwayne Wade) or even the heaven forbid Brooklyn Nyets. Nahz Drovinia or how ever the hell the Russians spell it.

Nobody asked that Mr. Special.

As for the deal no I wouldn't do it. The Celtics are win now mode. Bosh while an excellent offensive player, he is not KG on the defensive side of the ball. Now if I have no chance at a title give me Bosh.

Yes. I wouldn't trade Bosh for KG at all. Especially after his little gimp show that's going around on every board.

Of course you wouldn't. Your team is nowhere near championship level, which is why the Cs wouldn't do this either, although it would be tempting.

Your telling me boson wouldn't trade KG who MAYBE, has a MAX of two good seasons left before he just turns into dust, for Chris Bosh entering his prime....OKAY

i'll counter by saying the celtics are no championship team. last season you squeezed out of the first round. sure you got a championship a couple seasons ago, but your key players were much younger, healthier, and the eastern conference was quite a bit weaker then. if KG goes down good bye defensive anchor. your team struggled against chicago shorthanded. what makes you think youll have better luck against a harder team in the playoffs.

and to say garnett > bosh right now is laughable.

garnett 33 -----------bosh 25
garnett numbers consistently declining ------ bosh's numbers consistantly rising
garnett GP drops each year -------------bosh's are going up
(ie garnett missing more games each year where bosh plays more)
Garnett coming into the season with a limp and out of shape. bosh coming into season looking like the best shape of career at 250.

celtics can be great if they are healthy, the problem is with key players on the wrong side of 30 its tough.

prime garnett hands down >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> bosh in prime
current garnett <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<current bosh

The Raptors would have no reason to do this. Garnett is on his last legs, and even if he is a Top Tier Forward even when at least semi-healthy, that's still up in the air. Bosh is in a contract year and is entering his prime in even better shape than ever. I agree with the previous poster, at this point, Bosh is the better player and the much safer bet I would say.
