I'm a proponent of the “You're only as good as your backups” philosophy. With that in mind.:
Q: In General, how do you like the Bench?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Rasheed Wallace – Backs up two positions, shoots the three, is devastating on defense, and has the type of pure energy that helps any team (baring Technicals).
Q: How many minutes should Wallace play?
Q: And what should his Center:PF playing time ratio be?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Marquis Daniels – Man, can he play! His energy is different than Wallace, but equally beneficial. Not a good shooter outside the paint. But that overall energy, it can't be ignored by opposing teams.
Q: Can Marquis really backup 3 positions, even the PG; and should he?
Q: How many minutes should Marquis play?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Big Baby seems to be back in the “Good Backup” role. He's a good PF backup for K.G., and is listed as a backup Center. But, both those positions are saturated. Although, he's not too, too bad on defense.
Q: What improvements can BB do to make himself invaluable?
Q: How many minutes should Glen Davis play?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Eddie House is the consummate backup to Ray Allen. They are basically a 1-2 punch at the SG. Unfortunately, a clear backup PG hasn't emerged. So, House and Daniels are playing tag-team at the 2 and the 1.
Q: Is House at the 1 and Daniels at the 2 a good combo?
Q: How about Visa-versa?
Q: How many minutes should House play?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Lester Hudson has got good energy. He's very young, as far as NBA play is concerned, as a rookie. He's obviously used to being the go-to guy. I'd like to see him trained much, much more.
Q: Is he another answer to the PG dilemma, or The answer?
Q: Should he get valuable Secondary minutes, token Tertiary minutes, or be relegated to Inactivity (otherwise known as the basketball Practice Squad)?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Sheldon Williams – He is definitely a Power Forward. And, it shows. But, we've got a slew of those.
Q: Should we keep him, and why?
Q: Why not trade for another position, say a versatile backup Center project?
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Right now we have 16 men on a 15-man roster. Walker and Tony Allen are injured. Scalabrine is concussion prone (and should do a Steve Grogan). Giddens needs time and confidence. Sweetney is a Big, Big Baby, but at 27 he's got some gumption. Why is Tony Allen still on this (or any) team?
Who do we keep on the team (15-man + injured) and why?
J.R. Giddens –
Bill Walker –
Tony Allen –
Brian Scalabrine –
Mike Sweetney –
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
How about?
A) putting Walker, T. Allen and Scalabrine (when he gets injured) on the injury burner;
B) and see if we can unload Scal and T.A. at some point;
C) and give Sweetney, Giddens, Walker and Hudson some sunlight;
D) and possibly do some testing with temp/mid-season options, as other injuries come in.

Re: The Backups - A Secondary (& Tertiary) Q & A.
BOS is 9 deep, which is more than enough. The 2nd unit is a thing of beauty with Sheed, Davis, Daniels, and House. BOS should have the best 9 in the leauge. Then players 10-15 are just average players with some D-leaguers in there.

Generally I feel this is the best bench we have had in the big 3 era.

Rasheed Wallace – Backs up two positions, shoots the three, is devastating on defense, and has the type of pure energy that helps any team (baring Technicals).
Q: How many minutes should Wallace play?
I see Wallace getting some where in the range 25-28 mins
Q: And what should his Center:PF playing time ratio be?
75:25

Marquis Daniels – Man, can he play! His energy is different than Wallace, but equally beneficial. Not a good shooter outside the paint. But that overall energy, it can't be ignored by opposing teams.
Q: Can Marquis really backup 3 positions, even the PG; and should he?
I don't see it as him backing up 3 positions because I would think it would be rare seeing Daniels guard PG's. I don't really recall him doing much of that on other teams.
Q: How many minutes should Marquis play?
Around 25 mins

Big Baby seems to be back in the “Good Backup” role. He's a good PF backup for K.G., and is listed as a backup Center. But, both those positions are saturated. Although, he's not too, too bad on defense.
Q: What improvements can BB do to make himself invaluable?
He has done a lot for him self already by showin up in better shape.
Q: How many minutes should Glen Davis play?
I would like to see Glen Davs get around 20 mins a game but I see Sheed/KG/Perk each getting around 25-28 mins range leaving Davis with not to many mins

I think the consensus is House is better suited to focus on shooting instead of traditional pg dutes
Q: How about Visa-versa?
[color=#008000The vice versa seems to be the direction Doc is headin in.[/color]
Q: How many minutes should House play?
Similar to the mins he has got the last 2 seasons

Lester Hudson has got good energy. He's very young, as far as NBA play is concerned, as a rookie. He's obviously used to being the go-to guy. I'd like to see him trained much, much more.
Q: Is he another answer to the PG dilemma, or The answer?
Potentially but at this stage it is way too early to tell.
Q: Should he get valuable Secondary minutes, token Tertiary minutes, or be relegated to Inactivity (otherwise known as the basketball Practice Squad)?
What aout the NBDL route
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Sheldon Williams – He is definitely a Power Forward. And, it shows. But, we've got a slew of those.
Q: Should we keep him, and why?
I didn't understand why we got him to begin with as we have a clear hole at back up SF.
Q: Why not trade for another position, say a versatile backup Center project?
Trading Williams and getting anything back in value is wishful thinking.

Allen is on the team because his trade value is non-exsistent
Who do we keep on the team (15-man + injured) and why?
J.R. Giddens – Keep
Bill Walker – Keep
Tony Allen – Keep
Brian Scalabrine – Keep
Mike Sweetney – Cut

A) putting Walker, T. Allen and Scalabrine (when he gets injured) on the injury burner;
B) and see if we can unload Scal and T.A. at some point;
If we can get a back up SF who can defend/shoot the 3 it will fill out the bench rather nicely
C) and give Sweetney, Giddens, Walker and Hudson some sunlight;
Giddens, Walker, and Hudson should only see tme in a blowout
D) and possibly do some testing with temp/mid-season options, as other injuries come in.

Lastly, what twelve should be active during the beginning of the regular season?
