Hudson's Attitude

What do you all think of Hudson's attitude?

I just really like the way he carries himself. To me body language reflects a person's mindstate. TA always hangs his head. Giddens looks like a deer in headlights. Pruitt well you know what happened to Pruitt

He had a similar deer in headlights look to Giddens.

I know Hudson is limited, because he seems pretty short, and might not be the best passer, but something about his attitude really seems to be solid.

That was the first thing I notice about Hudson. He has a confidence like he belongs. Hudson obviously isn't a pure PG, but he seems like he could be better than House in that area with a little time, and his defense will certainly be better.

I think he can be Rondo's backup for the next ten years. But he's gonna have a tough time making it on our team as its currently constructed.

Well, the way I see it, if we are going to keep craptastic players around we should at least keep ones with attitudes of steel, like at first glance Hudson has. What has Giddens really shown us? Not too much! And Tony's clearly got bad karma or something. hehe.

He does show that level of confidence. And physically, while he is not the 6'3 most draft sites listed him, his does possess fairly long arms for his size which bodes well for him defensively pressuring the ball.

Hudson has a great attitude. I've been most impressed with his composure. He's been leading the second unit like he's been in the league a few years and actually yelling at Rasheed and Big Baby. Compared to Rondo, Hudson is quite vocal. Also, when he misses a "bunny" or a foul shot he's all over himself like KG. He's self-regulated when he's on the floor which is great for the team.

As for the basketball side, there's a lot he has to improve on but his attitude will speed up the learning process. He seems like a quick learner. It's tough to compare him to anyone but, in 2-3 years I see Hudson becoming a player like Flip Murray.

I'm guessing, unfortunately, Hudson will spend most of his time in the D-League. Doc always sits the rookies. Playing a lot for the Red Claws is probably better than sitting the pine for the C's.

I can only imagine that Hudson would absolutely tear up the NBDL.

He is with the Raptors. Last year he was with the heat the majority of the season, and the season prior he was involved in the trade that brought Shaq to Phx.

This isn't true the only guys who could play at all that didn't get close to a 1000 mins as rookies with Doc was Delonte because of injury and Leon because of defensive and offensive breakdowns early on.

The reality is while he doesn't play guys that are going to break down his offense or defense and it usually is mid season before rookies get a real chance, if you don't get mins as a rookie with Doc it probably means you can't play.

I like Hudson I think he can help on the defensive end and that alone will probably get him mins.

Doc has no issues playing rookies, IMHO. But they have to be fill a need - and they have to be decent. Hudson may or may not be decent but he isnt' filling any needs without an injury. We already have House and Daniels to backup the PG spot.

Yes and no; it's pretty clear that Doc is auditioning Lester for the 10th man spot, with TA and Scal. With TA/Scal in there, Daniels would be play the point, with House at 2. With Lester, Daniels would be a 3.

So, it's not strictly about who's playing point--it's about how the team fits together as a whole. In the preseason at least Doc is playing a full reserve 2nd unit--and Lester's getting some looks on that unit as the backup point guard. I think he has a decent shot, if only because we defend pretty well with him in there (and TA as well), and Hudson doesn't shrink from the moment, meaning he'll compete and take shots when he has them and not screw up the flow of things because he's not mentally strong enough... I also think Hudson is a necessary weapon against teams with quick little point guards...he definitely has a place on the 12 man roster, though he'll probably find himself in the D-League for a spell so as to get some seasoning, maybe when TA's back and ready to contribute.

I already see a role for him if he is able to fill it. When we play teams like Houston with speedy little scorers like Brooks, neither House nor Daniels will be able to guard them well so if a guy like that is burning it up, Hudson might get to play. Doc will probably rather have Marquis posting up but there will be nights having a solid confident little guy will be needed.

As far as Tony Allen goes, I am not as down on him as everybody else. The book on him hasn't changed. If he can stay healthy he can be an effective defender and occasionally can score some points. The great thing is we don't have to count on him at all this year.

We might as well accept that JR Giddens is just not an NBA player. I doubt team picks up his option and suspect he is first cut if we need a roster spot for Sweetney or a veteran down the road.

Giddens looked like an NBA player tonight and hes definitely an NBA athlete.

Im not really impressed with Hudsons game so far.

Well he has been in the NBA so he is an NBA player. I don't think he makes the rotation though and he is possible cut like Pruitt. Hudson looked okay. Not sure if his poor shooting is normal or an abberation. If he can shoot well he can play for us.

I think his shooting is one of the things they are most confident of and least focused on as he takes the big step up to the NBA and makes not only a position shift, but a position shift to point guard. I feel like they're mostly just trying to get miles on him now on the new track. But the sooner his shooting comes around, the sooner Doc won't be able to resist playing him.
