Baby expands his game.......

Glen Davis played well in the Friday night game against the Knicks. Last season, he was expected to extend out to space the floor and hit the open jumper when teams sag off him, as they did often.
That put him out of position to rebound and his numbers went down, especially at the offensive end. This season that may change. Rasheed Wallace is working his old jupm shooting grounds now, even stepping out to three point land. Glen is heading toward the hoop on pick and rolls, instead of being the ‘pick and pop’ guy. He’s also supposed to grab those rebounds a bit more.
Glen had 8 rebounds in 16 minutes against the Knicks and shot 3-6, but those points came around the hoop as well. He had a lay up in traffic and a baby hook went down over pressure. Doc has said previously that he was clever around the hoop. He looked pretty good in this game.

Can someone tell me if it's true he has been developing a 3-pt shot? He hasn't attempted anything thus far...

I can't understand why he would want to ...........
I would much prefer for him to improve defensively and work on rebounding.

Because he is short and has short arms - and thus gets his shot blocked. But as a PF he will find some empty space around the 3 point line. You have played some basketball right? I can't believe you would ask this question - honestly.

I don't care about his measurements. What made Baby successful throughout his career until now was dominating on the inside. So far he has expanded his game while in the NBA, which is great. But now that he will mostly be used as a last option when he is in the game, defenses will pay the least amount attention to him. With Sheed on the outside, I'd like to see him do more work on the inside and complement his game with the midrange. Please, please, please... no need to develop a 3 pt. shot. It's simply not needed IMO.

Davis is never going to be a great reounder but he is better than his numbers. The best thing you can say about Davis to this point is that he thinks he is better than he has shown or he is valued at. He thought this in the draft, and in FA and both times put his money were his mouth is, taking less guaranteed money for shorter years. If he can continue to do that instead of pizza and Doritos then he is going to get more money and Boston is going to be happy to give it to him.

Baby did work on expanding his range out to the 3 point line and I think as the season goes along you'll see him taking and hitting the corner three. One problem though: with the addition of Rasheed, Doc has told Baby that his role this season will be as a bruiser under the basket. Instead of picking and popping, he'll be picking and rolling to the rim. Irrespective of Pete's indictment, I think he'll be successful even with his shortness and lack of length--it's about effort and niftyness, not strictly about one's physicality. Baby *can* be successful under the rim and in the paint.

Baby has always been a pretty good finisher. Remember that breakout game in DET where he scored a bunch at the rim in the 4th? He's wide and has good touch, so he can still finish despite short arms and no lift. The 17-footer is a great addition but he's more versatile than that. I don't see any difference in his game this year. It's just last year he sucked shooting j's most of the year until late in the season. This year he should be good at the start.

I recally that DET game as more of Pierce destroying DET and then mockingly repeatedly passing it to a wide open baby for a layup. So far I haven't' seen anything that says Baby can do well in the post one on one. He might be able to rebound though as the last option! Which seems to be his role out there now. I think he'll be most successful out of there offensively speaking. But against non respected defenders he does a good job near the hoop of creating contact and getting to the line. Not sure the refs will call that against CLE,LA,ORL, or SA in teh playoffs though.
