Antonio Daniels waived

Post#1 » by hairybyrd » Sat Oct 24, 2009 12:47 am

Antonio Daniels was just waived by Minny.

While Rondo is great, Hudson looks good, and we just "hired" Tyronn Lue, I like the idea of somehow bringing Daniels on-board. First, a trade/cut would have to occur for this to happen.

What's the consensus on Daniels? Is it worth it to clear space for him via trade/cut? or should we keep the team as it is and expect Lue to get some minutes down the line while developing Hudson?

I would be a little surprised if we cut anyone right now. I think money is a little tight and we will try to swing a trade at some point anyways. Maybe midseason.

DA and Doc like Quisy as the PG with E-House at the 2, we're not gonna bring in a PG, unless its through a trade of Tony/Scal.

Antonio Daniels has always been a Danny Ainge guy. We'll see if Ainge thinks he has anything left in the tank and can help the Celtics. Remember Ainge has a few decisions to make before Oct 31st. The Rondo extension and Giddens and Walker's options.

If Ainge doesn't think Walker can help the Celtics this year and isn't going to pick up his option then he would be a prime player to be cut. Look at the Leon Powe situation.

I just don't know if Ainge has any interest in Antonio Daniels. We'll see.

I read this wrong and thought it meant Marquis.

On topic---I'm happy with our team the way it is.

I would love to bring in daniels as a backup point, id prefer to cut TA or Walker to clear the cap space, or maybe even take lester hudson off and put him permanently on the d league roster; the fact is that daniels fits this teams need of a backup point, and can defend 2's decently to play along side house, it also would allow marquis to focus solely on being the backup 2/3 and guard the other teams best guard while giving pierce or allen a rest

i know everyone loves are young guys like walker and hudson, but antonio is much more likely to help us win a championship this year then either of those guys

According to the wiretap on realgm, he is getting considerations from the Cavs.

Giddens has an option that has to be picked up in OCT for next year Walker's option is in July of next year.

Leon was not resigned because he was injured Walker has a guaranteed contract for this season and supposed to miss 6 weeks not 6 months.

My guess is that Boston has solved the emergency PG thing with the hiring of Tyron Lue. If someone goes down then Ainge can look to make a roster move and add Lue.

Daniels made sense if Ainge could have sent out TA and Scal and free up roster spots that way, but I don't see a move like this going to down unless Boston can make a deal.
