Forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis (hand injury) missed practice Monday morning and his status has not been determined for the Celtics' regular-season opening visit to Cleveland Tuesday.

I really wish they would give us more info. I hate this vague reporting. Hopefully just a sprain but it doesn't sound like he'll be playing tomorrow night anyway.

where did this come from? did anyone hear how the injury happened? did he strain it pulling tissues out of the tissue box? ok ok that was a cheap shot;) seriously, it seems kinda strange.

well if shel plays as well as he did the last preseason game we wont miss BBD.

Big Baby injured

Post#4 » by sam_I_am » Mon Oct 26, 2009 8:43 pm

Reportedly in a fight with friend from college and seriously injured thumb. Expected to miss a lot of time.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Glen Davis has suffered a right thumb injury and could be lost to the Celtics for a significant period of time.

He underwent X-rays today and will have to get further tests to determine the full extend of the dame. Surgery could be required.

According to sources, this was a non-basketball injury. It happened Sunday night when he got into an altercation with a friend, a former teammate, who was visiting from Louisiana.

Davis was reportedly defending himself.

Doc Rivers said after today that he was unaware of the circumstances, but sources said the club has been fully apprised of the situation.

As expected, the Celts are not pleased. Davis is said to be extremely upset, too.

Not a good way to start the season. :(

Really? This will hurt. S. Williams is pretty awful.

Unfortunately, for those posters who were confident this summer that a trio of Garnett, Perkins, and Wallace was enough to get by with, we might get a prolonged stretch of games to see if they were right.

palm slap forehead.

Great. Big Baby is a hot mess. I wonder who he was fighting, hopefully not Tyrus, he's on my fantasy team, lol. Whomever it is, It's likely that the other dude got an ass beating. Baby is a big ass strong man/child and he loves martial arts/kickboxing.

we can't sign anyone, we're at 15 now.

but it's not a big deal. it just means shelden is our 4th big and scal our 5th. last playoffs scal was our 3rd big, so this is still a nice improvement.

This is not good.

I guess it was smart to bring in Shelden Williams instead of waiting for Leon. This was the scenario that made it happen.

The Celtics only have 4 big bodies now and Scalabrine's out too. So much for resting Garnett. Also Shaq could easily get them into foul trouble.

Where's Sweetney when you need him?

Walker is out for a while. Baby is reportedly out for a while. If Scalabrine can't make it back soon maybe the team will make a roster move and open a spot for BIG Sweets.

Is that even possible?

Well, I guess we get a break from Davis whining about minutes.
