Good work, Gant. You re-broke this news sooner than anyone else. I guess it does pay to follow Gary Tanguay's tweets :)

Crap. Right before opening night. Well, I hope Shelden is ready to start proving doubters wrong.

This has to be on the top of the most dubmest things you could do to hurt your franchise list. Right on top with Valds snowboarding and Monte scooter accidents.

If this guy was really his friend, he would know not to get between Big Baby and his hoagie.

Hopefully he broke his thumb on his eating hand...otherwise we may get Michael Sweetney after all.

I am Shelden doubter, at least in him every being a good player. But I am going to convince myself that he can at least be something more than POB and Mikki Moore, okay yeah that didn't work. Scal is good though right no problems with the noggin.

Scalabrine's out with an ankle problem. He stepped on a cameraman near the end of the Knick game. I don't think he's playing yet.

I haven't been following the board lately. How did BBD break his hand?

anybody think this BS--http://www.nba.com/2009/news/10/26/rondo.extension/--is true? How can you possibly miss the season with a broken thumb, short of dropping a granite table on it?

So we have to play Williams or Scal (when he returns) some spot minutes with Baby out. We did fairly well last year in worse situations. KG's back, we have Sheed, and Perk's better conditioned. I wouldn't worry.

I am very worried. When I was advocating this summer how much we needed Davis as our fourth big, I pointed out that none of Garnett, Wallace, or Perkins have been able to play a full season in the past three seasons (and they have all been averaging around 30 mpg or more). I felt it was pretty much a necessity to get all of their minutes under 30 in order to get a full season out of them, and I still very much believe that. Not good news to start the season. Oh well; hopefully Shelden Williams is able to put together 15 productive minutes per game for the next two months and keep the other three's minutes down anyway.

48*2= 96

32*3= 96

Problem solved. I don't think we necessarily need Shelden to play a lot...depending on foul trouble...but 15 is probably the absolute max.

You don't think 32 mpg is asking quite a bit for a 35 year old who missed 16 games last year, a 33 year old coming off of major knee surgery, and a center that (facts are facts) has been extremley injury-proned during much of his NBA career? Personally, I would have preferred to get all of their minutes down to 27 mpg or so, at least early on, which means the presence of a solid 4th big. I was very confident that Davis could pull that role off; I am luke warm about Williams' ability.

Define "good"...

I think Sheldon Williams is straight out of the Kurt Thomas/PJ Brown mold - don't hold his rediculous 5th pick status against him - that's on Atlanta.

Williams has a pick-and-pop game, can crash glass, and has the mobility and strength for defending in space and in the post - he needs some time to learn the system here, but he can be a fantastic role player in the future.

Don't underestimate his desire to improve as well - this guy is a worker and a willing student. He'll maximize what he does well and improve his weaknesses.
