Is it going to be Rondo? For the life of me i cant think who else its going to be besides maybe D Rose...am I missing someone?

They just need two guards, don't have to be point guards.

I hope Rondo gets in, because ASGs suck balls without capable fast break PGs. But after Wade, Arenas, Carter, Johnson, Harris. There's one spot maximum for another guard.

Harris won`t make it. NJ will be bottom 5 in the league...

I don`t see Rondo having a chance. He just won`t score enough points to get in...

Here is how the PG's rank in the East right now:

1. Arenas
2. Harris
3. Nelson
4. Rose
5. Mo Williams
6. Rondo

I think Rondo could surpass Mo Williams this year but Nelson and Harris are primed to have much better seasons statistically. How do you make all star game averaging 7 ppg or even 12 ppg (his likely season average) when 4 guys in ECF are going to get 15-20 ppg and all usually average as many assists in a season?

I think you need to think a bit harder about it. What about Gilbert Arenas? How about D. Rose? What about D. Harris? Let's wait till Rondo makes ONE all-star team before penciling him in as a starter.

I would say it's probably a long shot for Rondo to make the All Star team this year. IMO, Arenas, Rose, and Nelson have a better chance and Harris and Mo Williams have about the same chance to make it as Rondo. Unless he gets voted in by the fans I just don't see it happening.

He doesn't score enough to get the votes, although he has a pretty high profile after last year's playoffs...I think he probably is the best PG in the conferenc though, unless Arenas really comes back strong.

my favorite player for sure but I don't see it ppg needs to be 14 or higher...He has a lot of work to do for that...it helps that devon is hurt but rose will get it..

Don't the fans only vote in the starters? I'm sure the GM(coach?) vote will get him in, or the ASG coach's selection will. I think the Celtics send Paul, KG, and Rondo this year.

Perhaps, but I would rank Devin Harris and Derrick Rose higher than Rondo. He is closer to the likes of Jameer Nelson and Mo Williams IMO.

With Rose it's obvoiusly just a matter of time until he's better than Rondo; I think Harris is probably close, but I think he's kind of a good numbers on a bad team type. Williams and Nelson are just shooters to me. I'd go 1. Arenas 2. Rondo 3. Rose 4. Harris 5. Nelson 6. Williams

If he continues to but up the numbers he has thus far he won't make it. If he puts up numbers like he did in the playoffs I think he will. At this point I don't see how anyone would think he is a sure thing. I don't even think KG is a shoe in unless he reverts to form. 14ppg won't get it done.

If his scoring goes up by even 2 points he might have a chance however thats a big if.

Who starts has nothing to do with performance, it's all about popularity and a players fan stuffing the ballots. That's why the Chinese players start or get immense votes, Yi almost started the All Star game last year. I see no way Rondo finishes even top 5 in fan voting. Not sure where he was last year, but it wasn't top 10.

Getting added by the coaches? Hard to say if he'll get picked ahead of Harris, Arenas, Johnson, Rose, Nelson, RA (I'm assuming Wade and (bleck) Carter are voted in as starters). ASG is just a scoring exhibition, unless they're looking for someone to throw alley oops I don't see Rondo playing this year.

It'll be anyone's guess... Remember, the All-Star voting is more of a popularity contest when that vote's in the hands (or rather the mouse) of the fans.

In my opinion, it'll be Wade as the starting off guard, and someone among Arenas, Rose, Harris, Calderon, Nelson and Rondo. Fortunately, Rondo's odds increase with most of the top assist point guards being in the western conference.

Rondo's main competition are Rose and Arenas. Conversely, in the west, fans have to decide among Paul, D. Williams, Nash, Kidd, Billups, T. Parker and B. Davis.

Again, the fans will decide... For that reason, Rondo's best chance is to get voted on by the eastern conference head coaches as a reserve. There simply aren't enough fans outside of Massachusetts who like Rondo. I mean you read all the negativity that trolls its way on here toward Rondo.

If you ignore the Chinese vote - the fans do vote for the guys they think are the best, IMHO. Its not quite that horrible. I would certainly be happy with a fan selected team - without the chinese guys.

OTOH I don't think the fans at large rate Rondo as highly as Celtic fans. Which is natural as fans of their own team are somewhat biased for their own guys. <g> Again if Rondo starts putting up those playoff numbers he sails into the all-star game. He keep scoring 10 points and 10 assists OTOH - that's a long shot.

I do agree the best chance for Rondo is to get voted on by a coach. That's not exactly a shoe in though. Do they have Vegas odds on this? If they did I bet Rondo has a less then 50% chance of making it.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Rondo get voted on by the head coaches over Ray. That is to say, no one wants to see a team feature four players on the All-Star team which is garbage.

So, if Rondo's going to make it this season, it'll come at Ray's expense. I mean Ray was an eastern conference reserve the last two seasons, but he did so in both cases as an injury replacement if my memory serves me right.
