Why the Celtics lost to Orlando !!!

3-11 FGs Rajon Rondo
1-7 FGs Eddie House

8-34 FGs = 23.5%

I guarantee you the Celtics will lose every game they ever play that
these 3 guys squeeze off 34 shots and only make 8.

Eddie is Eddie, hot or cold. Rajon is Rajon.
But Sheed, can't you take two steps in when you're bricking, and maybe make a few 2's?

Yeah, I thought it was annoying that Rivers has apparently told Sheed to limit threes and he was 0 for 8 last night.

We lost because our guards could not defend their guards. Until Daniels came in and played some real defense we were at their mercy.

We lost because in crunch time we can only jack threes. The big three are looking to me like they're becoming better complementary players at their age than go to guys.

if the celtics hit just 2 of those 3s that they normally get they win the game. No one should really be that phased by this loss.

Yea and if Orlando only turns the ball over 10 times instead of 20 and scores on them and shoots 70% from the free throw line instead of 50%, we win by 20+.

Turning the ball over is caused by the celtics good defence, that wasnt up to orlando.

Pierce missed like 3 WIDE open threes and Sheed missed about 3 of them.. especially that one in the 4th that just killed our momentum

There are a couple of factors of why we lost, but it comes down to 3s. When we hit 5 or more 3s we are 8-0 so far this year. When we hit less then 5 3s, we are 1-4 with the lone win coming against 0-12 Nets.

But I agree that so far this year the key players to our performance have been Rondo/House/Sheed. The starting unit has been playing bad even in some of the games where we won in blowouts. The reason why we won some of those games were because of the 2nd unit and that came down to Sheed/House knocking down a bunch of 3s.

Everybody in the starting unit deserves blame for their struggles, but I think Rondo is the main culprit. And I don't care as much about his shooting, it's his lack of aggressiveness and playing lazy. He is averaging 1.3 less rebounds then last year, getting to the free throw line almost 3 times less then last year and overall not even trying to break down his man and get into the paint aside from the 2nd half of the GS game. On defense, he is reaching way more then he did before and letting his man blow by him. I've been a Rondo supporter, but so far this year he has been a big disappointment. Not his shooting although that is part of it, it's more about him playing lazy/low energy/timid.

To be fair to sheed, I saw him pass on a number of 3s that he would have taken without any hesitation in other games this year. He was making more of an effort to take it to the hole. The 3s he took were wide open for the most part. I am shocked that he was able to shoot as many 3s as he did despite turning down a bunch. Prob because Orlando wasnt even covering him from 3. He is still driving me nuts right now. But , I am hoping he will get out of his funk soon. At least he still does some good things even when his shot isnt falling.

Meanwhile, Eddie House is a complete waste of space when his shot isn't falling. If Eddie continues to suck, maybe Doc will give Lester a chance to earn some minutes. But, I am not holding my breath.

They lost because:

The horrendous first quarter which they never recovered from.
Their horrible offense.
Because they are completely out of sync and have been for almost the whole year.
Because they could not get a hoop when they needed one.
They could not stop the magic from scoring when they needed to.
Because quite frankly the magic are a younger and better team.

Don't look too deep on this one. We lost by 5 points, and we lost because we flat out shot the ball poorly (34.5%), not poor shot selection or too many threes. We missed at least 15, maybe 20 wide open, makable shots from all over the court. Everyone did. Paul, Sheed, KG, Ray, Eddie, Rondo, Marquis. Just a few of those gimmes and in and outs go in and we win.

Besides that, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the positive that we finally broke out of this unenergetic slump we've been in, showed a backbone and finally played some defense and hustled (albeit a quarter late :-?

) . We should have gotten stomped by 50 the way we came out early, and yet turned it around and made a game out of it against a very good and very deep Orlando squad. There were more positives to take from this game then negatives. It was a step in the right direction.

But when the Celtics shoot 34% from the field, it's just because of something that they did wrong. It's not to Orlando's credit or anything.

What I really have concerns about is what this team heads out on the road. Look at December. They better get their act together soon if the losses will really start to pile up.

Did you watch the game?If you and your little Boricua friend watched the game you would see how many WIDE OPEN 3 pt shots Pierce, House, and Rasheed missed and you wouldn't come around here with this little bull comparison. Ray and Garnett missed little bunnies in the 4th quarter with no one even 6 ft around them...
Orlando played great defense too, specially in the paint, where Boston players were afraid to go there because of Howard's interior D.. but if you sit here and say most our missed shots were caused by a hand in the face, your crazy. Nobody is taking anything away from Orlando..we all gave props to how good the Magic team is back in the game thread. We are just saying our guys missed so many open shots that could have easily changed the results of this game..relax Magician people....sheesh..
