what will Danny do?

What will Danny do to get this team on track? I understand Doc has a huge role to play, but it apears that out current roster is not geared as is to go deep into the playoffs...let alone win in the finals. I preface this statement by commenting that we; have showed a lack of energy, lost to 2 major contenders who always give us trouble, are getting thumped on the boards, not scoring inside and are struggling greatly to play consistantly. Now, may will suggest this is the start of the season, and we are just getting things rolling, plenty if time to improve. And we are still waiting for BBD to return. My personal feeling is however that we dont have the legs to go all the way, our age is stopping us from being consistant and we lack an inside scoring option outside of PP and when on, Rajon.
So....I would like to see what Danny does...does he trade? Sign a drop off free agent? Personally I'd luv to see a middle presence bought in, traded for most likely. In my dreams we some how get Kaman here.....yeah dreaming. I don't know the numbers, but Brand isn't getting minutes in Phi.....an option? Oh...and Im also an advocate for getting AI here.
So....what are your thoughts? I think the sit on it and do nothing option, waiting for things to get better is a flawed option by the way....injuries happen......age happens...bad luck happens...I feel we can't/shouldn't sit still.

Get rid of Scalabrine..this is all his FAULT!
Come on man..we are 10 deep..take out the big 3 and Rasheed, and all our other players are young. Perk, BBD, Rondo, Daniels, Shelden..all YOUNG. If we don't have what it takes to go all the way, than idk who does..obviously getting deeper wouldn't hurt us at all..if we could package Tony+Scal+Giddens for an inside scorer,(Or for a Raja Bell type player) than what the hell..do it..if not, we will still be fine. We are less than 20 games into the season..I don't understand why some people are starting to panic already...
BTW..Brand..is done.

Um, its only a small stretch of bad games. If we drop ten in a row then you can make a thread like this.

We're still good. Garnett, though, maybe because of his health, isn't bringing the same intangibles to the floor so far this season - intensity & communication on defense. His body may be back, but his head's not the same.

I bet you were pretty excited once we beat the Cavs on the road, held teams under 60 pts, and started out 6-0..give it time man..if we lose to the Knicks tomorrow, then you can start one of these panic threads..

I think at this point Danny is locked into this squad for the most part. They have to just start playing better. I think had he not signed Rondo he could have made big trade next year. But even that's likely more of the same after the deal.

Im pretty happy with our team as of now, but i do see some minor areas where we could improve
i think there have been some good suggestions for what danny could do already here, my favorite option would probably consist of trading scal and tony for gomes
im also in favor of making a move to acquire a backup point guard

Scal+Tony+Giddens(Or Walker, or Hudson) for Gomes
Sign Antonio Daniels...
Rondo/A.Daniels/House
Ray/Marquis/House
Pierce/Gomes/Marquis
Garnett/ Big Baby/Williams
Perk/Sheed/ Big Baby
I wonder if we could pull something like that off? If not Gomes, maybe Raja Bell?I don't think he will be happy in Golden State for too long..

Sure disappointed but not panic mode, and I was sure before the season a trade was coming mid season anyway and that group is T. allen, giddens scal and walker, and now maybe house but I say thats a mistake to do.

scal and tony is too much salary to take back for just gomes, but how bout scal for gomes straight up, as a salary dump for minny? i would add giddens to the deal if that made it work
i like the idea of daniels, but i dont think danny wants him, because he hasnt made a play for him but some of the available (and unheralded) backup options i do like are: Travis Denier, Beno Udric, Sergio Rodriguez, Marco Jaric (but only if we make a play for gay instead of gomes and take back jarics salary to make it work) Ronnie Price or Chris Quinn
what do you think?

No..not really....the Cavs did not play well....and I didnt believe that Shaq was going to be good for them....
will you panic if we lose to the Knicks?
I am a huge fan....sincethe early 90's.....however I see the team much the same as last year.....we just weren't convincing, despite a great w-l record...,im not convinced this year either is all....
when they show up, perhaps that will change.....

Word..didn't think about the salary..but Danny could just make a combination of Scal, Tony, Giddens, Walker and Hudson to get Ryan here.
I'm all for getting a back up PG..most of the guys you mentioned would handle the point better than Eddie, and shoot the ball better than Rondo..some of these euro guys don't play much defense though..Price and Daniels would be my choices..I really think we need a natural PG for the playoffs though..unless Eddie starts shooting like he normally does, he is pretty useless, and we will struggle with him during the playoffs..

Panic is not the right word. I know what everybody on this team is capable of. If we lose tomorrow, I'll know there is something VERY wrong happening, and I will start to get worried. But no panic.
I bet Cavs fans were pretty convinced their team was sweeping their way to a championship last year since they looked pretty damn good during the regular season..come playoff time we all know what happened..there is more to basketball than just a convincing beginning of a season.

No need to panic. That said, unless you are tearing it up, you always need to be on the lookout for a trade or signing that improves things.
AI is worth considering. If I were Danny I would at least make a call and say we'd love to have you. We need some consistent scoring off the bench. Can you try to give us 20 in 20? I might go further to offer say a 10 day contract or 2 to see if he can fit in or POSSIBLY give him Ray's spot if Ray and everyone else is OK with it.
Noci is another option. There will probably be some guys who can help in a while too. Once Baby comes back we may see KG get more involved. Just a hunch.

True PG that can handle and shoot to take Lester Hudson's active roster spot
True sized SF that can shoot to play behind Pierce (Giddens active roster spot),
especially on days when Ray or Marquis are not "on".
Chips to get these two guys:
Tony, Giddens, Walker, Lester, Scal (5th Choice), future 2nd rounders, future first rounders
Core: Paul, Rajon, Kendrick, KG, Ray, Marquis, Eddie, Sheldon
Available if the right deal came along: Rasheed Wallace or Glen Davis
I actually like the idea of Iverson as the off the bench PG, since
it adds a scorer, that can still penetrate, and could learn the Celtics plays (if he wanted to).
The problem with Iverson is his whole career, he did whatever the f*ck he wanted,
and his teams were required to adjust to him.
Then, Detroit and Memphis said no more adjusting to Allen Iverson,
you adjust to us.
Once the refs stopped giving him the calls
(his stat line during his 30 ppg years was like 9-21 FG, 12-14 FT)
but once he stopped taking 21 shots per game (he'll be lucky to get 8 here before Doc yanks him)
and didn't have the ball all the time, he stopped getting his star calls.
Now he's lucky to get 5 FT.
It would be nice if the Celtics could do a 2 or 3 for 1 to free up a spot for Iverson.
I like the idea of Gomes much more than Nocioni.

^^^ Danny breaks up the big 3 after this season IMHO. This is a the final hurrah for these guys - championship or bust. He isn't going to let them fade away like those late 80's team. But this year I think he just hopes that Ray and KG get it going by the end of the year.

I agree. Part of me will hate to see it over.....but I realy dont want this to be a short spark amongst an otherwise dull 20 or so years....I hope Danny makes moves toward making the C's competitive for well over the next decade (ala Spurs).

I don't think Danny will do anything right now. He's going to wait until this team has 30-40 games under its belt and then he'll make a decision about adding a player or two. It's hard to imagine us playing worse and shooting worse. Rebounding is a problem but Baby should help there as should KG when he gets his lift back. He clearly is struggling with jumping. KG's poor play is understandable given his injury- the two guys who concern me the most right now are Wallace and Ray . They both are playing with really how energy and they both are struggling with their shooting. Ray to me should be coming off the bench and we should start Daniels or maybe even baby when he comes back. I'd also like to see GIddens get some burn at the 3.

Celts are fine for now.....
The truth is they have been exposed. They can't guard athletic teams. Doc is doing a mediocre job with the substitutions. Ray Allen does not need to be dribbling the f*cking bal late in the game. Wallace is done, his legs are done. He should not play more than 20 minutes a game for the rest of the season. Daniels should be playing more than the 15 he's getting.
I think Doc needs to try some of the kids out, i'm not saying 12+ minutes but maybe some like 3 or 4 minutes here and there.....let's see what Hudson can do against nate robinson....instead of watching nate robinson school Eddie house like he's got two left feet.
