Horses are slow getting off the line. That is where the human has the advantage.

Well, 94 ft. is 31.333 yds. So running 31.333 yds in 3.1 seconds extrapolates to 40 yds in 3.96 seconds. Also, those last 9ish yards would be run at his max speed, so the overall time would be a hair faster than this. And that is while dribbling a basketball.
So if the 3.1 seconds mark is indeed accurate (which I'm a little skeptical of), then the 3.9 second 40 would be just about right. In which case, god damn,

Rondo can do it in 3.1 seconds? He should challenge the world record! Devin Harris did it in 3.9 seconds at the all star game and was put in the world record book for it...if Rondo can do it in 3.1 seconds..well then haha

Rondo is a lot faster than Harris, which was pretty obvious when they matched up last season. Devin looked positively slow compared to Rajon.

I don't know how fast Rondo is, timewise, but I'd put him up against anyone in the league. Hell, he challenged Bolt to a race. Knowing Rondo (who has an angle on everything), it would have been endline to endline on the court, where he actually would have had a legit chance. Anyone who knows Bolt, knows that he constantly gains speed over the course of a race, but it a relatively slow starter. Bolt from 50 to 100 meters is unbelievable. Bolt from 0 to 50 is quite ordinary for a world class sprinter. From 0 to 30 (NBA endline to enline), he might lose to a guy like Rajon.

rondo has some quickness. but johnson will beat him running backwards.

I'd put my money on Johnson. Most of those pro RB's have track experience - and thus know how to have a proper start and good technique for such a test. BB's lack in this regard and thus can easily lose. Also Rondo isn't particularly explosive outside of his quickness - his leaping ability seems far short of say a D. Rose who has more power. This makes me think that the RB likely has more top end speed.

40 yards is enough for some of this to kick in. My guess is that say Randy Moss would beat Rondo in the 100meter simply because he has a longer stride and thus more top end speed.

well 4.2 40 is already an amazing speed.. the NFL record is a 4.1 so if Rondo could really run a 3.9 then i'll be speechless!

This thread is a joke. Rondo is quick as hell but when it comes to a 40, where explosiveness is key, Chris Johnson would annihilate Rajon.

I wonder if you know what you just said? When it comes to running quickness IS explosiveness.

There are a couple people over on the general board who said Rondo isn't even that fast on the court. I'm surprised how little people know about Rondo's speed. He's not just quick. He's really really fast.

i did a little research and knicks pg tony douglas did 94 ft in 3.03 secs. i would love to back up rondo but we're talking about one of the, if not the fastest running back in NFL. rondo is really quick but the best i think he'll do is like a 4.4-4.5.

3.9 is nearly IMPOSSIBLE.

Few things:

NBA has an obvious All Star Weekend spectacle here that they need to be working on immediately.

Rondo wouldn't embarrass himself and get killed. He's not stupid.

Nice to see trolls put their comments into the mix. We value their opinion so highly.

rondo's 30 pounds lighter, it wouldn't even be close.
