Marquis Daniels had surgery this morning to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb. No time table on his return...

Not good. That means more TA and Scal...

Damn it this is the problem with this guy he is made of glass. It is officially "back up pg talk" season. Let me say it before Danny does;

We think Tony can play the point we won a game against the Lakers 3 years ago that we started Tony at the point

Has Steph been able to stay off the webcam lately?

Paranoid rant over.

It's amazing that Tony Allen can have ONE, one, solid game and all of a sudden, he's a PG. He scares me anytime he has te ball

That's strange because The Sports Hub reported he would be out for another three games this morning. I wonder if it is one of those minor surgery's where the recovery time is like a week or two. What's the deal with Bill Walker? Is he playing for the Red Claws? A call up might be in order.

Yep he's on the Red Claws averaging 18 a game.

I'm gonna break this into two topics to reply to.

1. MD being out:

There is a huge silver lining here: We now get to play Tony Allen with out taking away anyone's minutes. If MD has to go out, what better time than when the other guy who plays his position is just coming back. I know a lot of people here will say "tony sucks" well he does but for what we are paying him we need to give him one last shot at some point this season. I give him a 10% chance he proves himself to be of some use to us and a 30% chance he shows some team out there he could be more than just an expiring for them. In any event it is worth force feeding him some minutes regardless of MD so the timing just worked out nicely.

2. Back up point:

I'll say it again; in what world is MD our back up point? I feel like this was an argument made in the off season to support not bringing back Starbury that is being clung too now. It doesn't make sense if you actually watch the games. MD doesn't bring the ball up on a regular basis. House does and PP and RA do on occasion or when they push the ball. In a pinch, say if House went out MD COULD do the job but he cant be a slasher and a facilitator.

So we do have a need for a back up point but not really much more than we did before MD went out. Eddie has his problems but as of yet I don't think it has cost us any games. Even if we lose a few big deal, its the playoffs we need to focus on. We wiil wait and see who gets cut again this year.

They should call up Bill Walker. This is as good of a time to give him a chance to play meaningful bench minutes as we're gonna get. The team is rolling right now, and until Christmas, the schedule looks favorable. I want to see what he's got.

Give Hudson some minutes then. 5-8 a game in the second and third quarters wouldn't hurt at all even if he isn't capable of being an NBA pg yet.

Yup, a good idea too.

Perkins / Wallace
KG / Williams
Pierce / Walker
Ray / House / TA
Rondo / Hudson

I'd like to see this until the Magic game on Christmas. No need hurry Daniels back, and it's an opportunity to see if we can rely on players like Bill Walker, Tony Allen, or Lester Hudson in important games if/when needed.

Out 6-8 weeks.......

Marquis Daniels will be out for 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery on his left thumb.

The Celtics swingman missed last night’s game against the Bucks because of the injury and had undergone an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.

Last night Celts coach Doc Rivers said the Daniels injury has been affecting the entire second team.

“I’ve seen a lot of things. He hasn’t been able to hold onto the ball,” Rivers said. “I think it’s affected Eddie (House), because earlier in the year, and especially in preseason, Eddie was getting great shots off of Marquis passes. Now (Daniels) doesn’t have the ability to pass and I think that affects Eddie.”

Wow, 2 months?!?

I really hope Hudson gets some minutes now. Eddie has been horrible but Doc still refuses to play Lester...

If we see TA at PG again I just might jump out of the window...

Rondo will run the point with the starting group. House, Ray or Pierce will run the point with the 2nd unit. I'm ALOT more worried about Scalabrine getting playing time at the 3..it's bad enough he is getting about 15 minutes a game lately, if I have to watch that loser 'play' 20+ I will jump out of a train! :banghead:

I don't get the objections to scal. He rarely makes a mistake, hes just kind of there. Id rather that then see Hudson, Giddions Walker or Tony turn the ball over. Granted, we need to see what we have/develop these guys.

Hopefully Doc will give Toney minutes because he has the most salery and the higest reward i another team wants him. After that maybe pick one of the other 3 so at least someone can get some meaningful time rather than everyone getting a tiny bit. In the end we know what Doc will do, just play PP and RA more.

Forget PG; it may be time for Nocioni now.

He rarely makes a mistake??What are you his father?

Seriously though, the dude sucks..he fouls everybody, sucks at defense, and sucks at everything he does...there is not ONE thing you could come and say..'Hey..Scal is good at that'...nope..Hudson has good PG skills, Giddens has good rebounding, Tony has good defense..Scal has good NOTHING...you want somebody to just STAND there..then put a Jersey on one of those traffic cones..and he would probably help more than that loser Scal. At least no clear path fouls would be committed..

It time either Walker or Giddens gets a chance. Also I felt that TA was playing better than Daniels, this time last year.

In a way this is not too bad. Atleast it explains why Daniels wasn't playing well over the last 3-4 weeks. Between TA, Walker, and Giddens, I'm hoping one if not two guys can step up.

This means more Tony Allen. Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night, his first game back he was in mid-season form with 1 rebound, 1 assists, 2 turnovers and 2 fouls in 6 minutes.

an average of 16 turnovers per 48 minutes.

:(

Not good at all. That means Tony Allen AKA the Human Turnover Machine is going to be seeing more minutes.

Either showcase Tony or give those minutes to Hudson to free up House from playing point guard.

I hope that Ainge can trade either of Davis, Tony, Scalabrine or Williams for a serviceable backup point guard. Is Antonio Daniels still available?

This does stink. I like TA more then other people - but we all thing MD was a notable upgrade with far superior PG skills and more useful defense (less aggressive but more effective with less fouls).

I think we need to give Hudson some burn and/or pick up another player. I hate seeing Scalabrine out there. It pains me.
