Ugh, I hate fan voting. Seriously? Tracy McGrady?!?!?! Shaq 2nd?!?!?! Vince Carter, Allen Iverson and Gilbert Arenas all n front of Rondo?!?!?! IVERSON?!?!?!
This fan voting is really getting out of hand. Players deserving aren't getting the votes, and players getting the votes are ONLY Getting them b/c of their name.

Some crazy results sofar in this poll.....Kg look like a start (bugger!)...PP will get there and RR and Ray Ray have to be close....Perk polling ok....but way back
I wanna see Bogut make the ASG...he has to be on eof the top centres in the L at the moment...
And KG is in front of Bosh cause the transgender canditates traditionally dont poll well............

You figure it out yet? That is excatly how much the people who vote know about these players they are voting for.

But if that was the case, then what's wrong with Vince being ahead of Rondo? The Magics have a great record and they did beat the Celtics.

if you don't play nba should take them off the ballot period. That includes our guys. Any body under half of games by all star game should be omitted.
pau gasol played 9 games Tracey mcgrady no games Allen Iverson 5 games main gripes right there .

The NBA must do something about having currently injured players (especially, for those players having no games played to date) on the ballots. Omit them or have them on the write-in list. Obviously, there needs to be a minimum games played rule. Because it isn't fair to more deserving players who'd played all or most of their games leading up to the All-Star game.
They're wasted votes is what they are, in my opinion. Making the ballot into a popularity contest is one thing, but to make a complete mockery out of it by national fans is another. McGrady? Come on, people...
If D. Howard is to be the starting center in the east, then the top choices for a backup should be Bogut, B. Lopez and Perkins. And the top choices for a backup point guard should be Rondo, Calderon and Rose. I mean if Arenas is receiving acknowledgment despite the fact that Washington is currently a below .500 team. Then the same exception should be given to both Calderon (Toronto) and Rose (Chicago).

I actually agree that Bosh should be ahead of KG. He is having a monster season. I am just a little sensitive to raptors posters on this board since it is trolling 90% of the time...
And I am actually surprised Rondo got this many votes...

Calderson is putting up 12.1pts/6.4 asts and Rose is putting up 16 pts/5.7 asts. Hardly all-star worthy numbers, especially for guys on a sub-.500 team. IMO Jennings deserves a pg nod over any of those guys save Rondo. He's putting up better numbers, and his team is far exceeding expectations. I know its taboo to put a rookie in the all-star game, but I see no reason that Calderon, Arenas or Rose deserve an all-star nod over Jennings at the moment.
If VC and Wade start, the backup guards should probably include Johnson, Rondo, and I'm not ever sure who else.
Also, it's really too bad Gerald Wallace isn't even in the top 10 of voting for forwards. The man is 6'7 and leading the league in rebounding. That is absurd, if he doesnt find his way onto the east's bench it'll be a travesty.

I'd like to see Andrew Bogut and Al Horford make it as backup centers to Dwight Howard.
It would be nice if Rajon Rondo gets on, too, since Rajon actually deserves it..
If Doc is the Coach, he will have some say with the other coaches.

Considering that Redd is injured, that's a lot of more shots afforded to Jennings. I would like to see how his statistics would differ if Redd weren't injured. I see Jennings being in the All-Rookie game. The NBA would prefer to have some name players to showcase for that game. Remember, Rose didn't make the All-Star game as a rookie either.

Well, I don't expect either player to make the all-star team, but my main point is that Jennings deserves it over Rose of Calderon at the moment. Theres little doubt Jennings will play in the rookie/soph game, but theoretically he can play in both (Roy played for the sophs and the western all stars in his second season). As for his stats with Redd there, it will be interesting once Redd comes back, but any decrease in production would probably be offset by a huge increase in efficiency. Adding a shooter like Redd to the lineup would open up the lanes a lot for a slasher like Jennings. But either way, Redd's injury should have no bearing on who would deserve a spot more. What should matter is who is playing better this season, and who is contributing more to his teams success, which is Jennings on both accounts. However, as I said before, I'd rather an all-star spot goes to SG's who are better and deserve more rather than try to put Rose/Calderon/Jennings on the team in an attempt to distribute the positions evenly on the roster.

The all star game is for the fans, not the players. The millions of dollars the players make is for them. Guys like Iverson might not be as good as Rondo now, but he's still more popular with the common fan, so even if he doesn't deserve to be in it, the fans want to see him.

You have nothing to complain about. Garnett is starting over Bosh.
All-Star Games are for the fans and they've been this way for a long time now. Yeah I agree injured players like T-Mac shouldn't be eligible, but LOL @ complaining about guys like Carter, Arenas and Iverson being picked ahead of Rondo. If Rondo deserves it, the coaches will get him in anyway.

This is like getting upset over the fact that your poop looks and smells bad. It's not getting out of hand, it's staying the same as it's always been. Did the world end when AC Green started over Karl Malone in 1989? No. Was it fair? No. Did the fans get what they wanted? Apparently yes, they liked the Lakers and/or abstinence that much that year.
Stay calm rather than arguing that something that is
by definition a popularity contest shouldn't play out like a popularity contest. Joe the Plumber is going to vote for guys like Shaq and Iverson over guys like Lopez and Rondo because he has no idea who the latter too are, and he saw Shaq and AI on Best Damn Sports Show several times after his wife was done watching Friends. It's ok! As everyone should absolutely positively know before they're allowed to create an account on a board like this, voting only determines the starters, and honestly Carter's a fine enough starter, and the TMac thing is silly but if we tick off China they'll invade so what are you going to do. I'll take another DWill snub over manufacturing wickets for Hu's empire - and last year in the exact same circumstances TMac said he'd decline it if he won anyway (CP 'rallied', somehow..), so kudos to him for that and no reason to think he wouldn't do the same this year.
