Anyone else think that we're going to unload either TA, Scal, or maybe both when the deadline comes around? Both will be off the books next season...And we all know that Chicago, NJ, and NY will all try to dump as much salary as possible before the summer rolls around.

I think it would make a lot of sense for Chicago to try and dump John Salmons for a Scal/TA combo. Especially if they're still out of the race in another month or two. With Jerome James, Tim Thomas, Scal, TA, and Brad Miller all off the books, they could easily land Wade (who wants to play there) and another big time FA. It would also free up the 2 guard spot for Wade in Chicago.

I'm not so sure that NJ or NY would want to help us out...And it probably would not be a good idea to essentially help them land Wade/Bosh/ or LeBron.

Think about it though....Once we're at full health...This would be one hell of a rotation.

PG- Rondo/ House/ Hudson
SG- Ray/ Daniels/ Giddens
SF- Pierce/ Salmons/ Walker
PF- KG/ Davis/ Sheed
C- Perkins/ Williams

We would have a lot of depth at every position. And a second unit that consists of House, Daniels, Salmons, Davis, and Sheed would be better than a lot of team's starting 5.

I would be surprised if we have the same team after the deadline as now. We are playing very well right now so any trade has to be a clear step up in talent to off set disturbing the chemistry we have. Chi i interesting as they have a few players I would take a long look at. I think the most probable outcome is we simple sign a vet who gets cut, next a trade of scal/tony/whoever and last is a Ray Allen trade. Unless he gets hurt or something I can't see us trading him unless we get him back in a month. If we could get 2 of the 3 of Deng, Kirk and Salmons for Ray and 3 mil (getting Ray back) it would be a great way to set ourselves up for the post big 3 era. Perhaps Ray could agree to leave a good deal of money on the table (so Chi buys him out on the cheap) and we give him that money back in the way of a bigger than market value contract in the offseason. I hope Danny and Co have the balls and money to make a deal like this.

I would love to see a deadline trade, personally.

We are still missing that Posey type of junkyard dog.

Gomes and Sessions would be extremely close to option A for me but It's hard to get good players for nothing, they best we could do be glenn davis eddie house and Tony allen talent wise for sessions gomes and jawai and those 3 have better stats i'd throw in just about any combo though for those main 2 clogs for a few years on a squad with the 3 aging super star and two growing stars. And are MLE's avail for next year. But the real kicker is Ray allen and the truths resignings and then the kendrick extension.

I think the Chicago trade would make a lot of sense.

I wouldn't mind acquiring Andre Miller from Portland. But if he's dissatisfied with being a backup, he would be dissatisfied here. Because he would've to accept that same role. Or Boston could attempt to acquire Anthony Carter from Denver who might be more available than Miller.

How about trying to pick up a lottery pick for next year's draft (a pretty strong one) to help bridge the gap to the post big 3 era. New Orleans is bleeding money and may be faced with trading Paul. We could give them a second option and another year or two to try and surround him with better players. While the move doesn't help us this year it would pay off down the line, especially if Evan Turner fell to us because of the back injury.

Boston recieves: Posey / Peterson / 1st round pick

While the contracts suck the only true impact it may have for the team is no MLE signing next offseason. This loss would be offset by the high draftpick and then pay dividends in the future. The bench would still have House (resigned) / Peterson / Posey / Williams (resigned) / Sheed / lotto pick / celt's pick which wouldn't be too shabby.

You beat me to it. I've been thinking about a Scal and TA or Scal and Giddens for Mo Pete and a first or Posey and a first all year. This draft looks like it's gonna be loaded, I think it would be great to snag an Ed Davis or Xavier Henry in the late lotto. We could package the Hornet's pick with ours to move up a bit if need be. The contracts aren't too crippling either, Mo Pete is expiring next year and Posey the year after (which gives us roughly 35 million in expirings between KG, Posey and Sheed). Posey could have some use as a player as well (not so much with Mo Pete).

My dream pickup would be Hinrich. He can back up all three perimeter positions, and he covers our worst backup position, which is PG.

He's also the best PG in the league that I know of who doesn't have a huge ego problem with being a backup.

From a salary standpoint, the only serious rotation player who would (probably) have to go out in the deal would be House. (The core deal is Scal/Tony/House. We can take another salary back.) Our perimeter backups would be Daniels, Hinrich, plus whichever of Giddens/Walker/Hudson the Bulls didn't insist on getting in the deal, plus whoever else the Bulls sent back.

I don't think Chicago would make a deal like unless they saw some actual talent coming back their way. However on the basis of that deal and involving the Kings it might work. Hypothetically:

Boston recieves: Nocioni / Hinrich / Deng / eventually Ray Ray back
Boston sends: TA / Scal / Ray Allen / 3 mil cash

Chicago recieves: Ray Allen / Kevin Martin / 3 mil cash
Chicago sends: Taj Gibson / Deng / Hinrich / Ty Thomas

Sac recieves: TA / Scal / Ty Thomas / Taj Gibson
Sac sends: Nocioni / Kevin Martin

Why for Boston: We take A LOT of salary which is really the only reason we wouldn't do this. However next year's bench would already be signed through next year anyways. An MLE guy wouldn't be that much better than any of the guys we get back anyways. Sure it would be nice if we could flip Nocioni for more of a true sg to complement Deng but thats not a terrible problem to have. Hinrich would provide more of a true point than we've had on the bench since the big 3 era and Deng gives us a young impact player locked up long term. The Hinrich and Nocioni deals also expire at the same time as Wallace's which would set us up for a future trade nicely. Losing Ray for a month would might cost us a few W's but in grand scheme of things wouldn't stop us from doing the trade. We'd probably be the biggest winner of the deal and it might even be necessarary to send Davis to Sacremento instead of Taj Gibson (Chicago would just need bodies period since they're already sending out Hinrich and Deng for an expiring).

Why for Chicago: They want to land a big name in free agency this year but depending on the cap projections they may not even be able to do that now unless they renounce Ty Thomas making him unrestricted. This trade does several things for them:
-They get back the best player in the deal in Martin, always a plus.
- Deng and Martin's salary's are a wash but taking Hinrich's 9 mil off the books puts them under 29 mil (via hoopshype.com) in total salary. Signing a max player would take them to roughly 47 and they'd still be enough under the cap to sign another MLE type guy (without using their MLE).
-They get value for Thomas since resigning him would take away their chance of landing a big FA. This is also better than a sign-and trade in the offseason since teams would know the position they're in and lowball them.
-Martin's a much better fit next to Rose than Deng. He will knock down 3's at a better rate than Deng will hit long 2's off of a Rose drive and dish and is a better overall scorer.
- With a core of Rose / Martin / Noah plus Salmons (could definitely be the 5th worst starter or 6th man on a championship team) signed next year (plus the ability to essentially add 2 MLE type guys) they can offer a much better chance at winning than either NJ or NYK. A lot of teams seem to think these free agents don't mind playing on a terrible team but I beg to differ.

Why for Sac: Perhaps the "loser" of this trade but not a bad deal for them. (If they needed a little more incentive maybe we could send our first to Chicago, they could send their's to the Kings, and the Kings send a 2nd to us.) It can basically be broken down into two parts for them
1. (expirings for Nocioni) It was rumored early this year that while discussing a Kenny Thomas for Dalambert swap Sacto wanted to include Boston and send Nocioni to us for expirings but we were hesitant. Well with more incentive to pull the trigger on our end Sacto gets what they want and dump Nocioni for expirings.
2. (Martin for Thomas / Gibson) With Evans playing much better at the 2 than the 1 it confirmed most people's thoughts that he was a sg and not a pg. Additionally an Evans / Martin wing tandom is way to small and would get killed on defense / the boards. With Evans being much cheaper Martin has become expendable and a good trade asset. They flip him for some talent at 4 (and they could use some better bigs, see: trying to trade for Dalembert) and get rid of an overpaid player in Nocioni. The lack of height with Thomas / Gibson wouldn't be a huge problem with the 7'1'' Hawes and 6'11'' Thompson and Gibson's strong rebounding.
