Is there interest in Corey Maggette?

Unless you consider the recent rumor that there was a deal brewing for Nocioni, it is hard to gauge if the Celtics are interested in making any deals. On thing that is for certain Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers had definite interest in Corey Maggette as they offered him the full mid-level exception immediately after Maggette became a free-agent, something they were unwilling to do with Posey. The fans in California have made it clear they are not happy with Magette. From the Mercury News:
"It’s not pleasant at all," Maggette said. "I remember the time when Al Harrington(notes) was here, and he was getting booed and he was asking to be traded. And I saw it when (Stephen Jackson(notes)) was here, and he was asking to be traded. And now, I’m getting booed for wanting to be part of this team through all this nonsense."
When the Warriors got rid of Stephen Jackson, they in effect picked up Radmanovich's option, putting them at a salary level for next year that still may be above the cap. At 7-15 they seem to be going nowhere fast, and may be looking to dump salary, especially knowing the fans might favor it. The Celtics could obviously not have matched the Warriors offer. But would they be interested today, taking on this year and $30 million more for another three years? Maggette is 30 years old. Is the interest still there or is he too expensive?

Maggette is enticing, but as a Clipper fan I've seen the best and worst of him and I'd say he isn't really worth it. His jump shot is very spotty, he really only has eyes for the basket, turns the ball over more than he should, and plays uninspired defense. I'm not sure he is any better than Daniels as far as the role the Celtics would want him to play

Sheed, as someone who's seen him a few times do you think being on THIS team with the veteran leadership he'd rise to the occassion?
he always struck me as someone with a ton of talent....hell I think he was considered a poor man's Paul Pierce coming out of college.

Yep I'm listening I'm a bit on the bubble though Outstanding athlete... Very strong... Chiseled body... Both an explosive and finesse player... Plays with a lot of energy... Very good getting to the basket... Gets a lot a foul shots... Pretty selfish... Not a team player... Foul prone.

Eh, even best case I don't think he helps us that much now and he doesn't help us at all long term.

No, I don't think he'd accept his role with Boston. He'd want to play more than 15-20 mins a game

Maggette is horrible with a worse contract.
When we wanted him, it was for a 4 year MLE or something.
He has since said that he chose GS over an MLE offer from the Spurs.
I watch a lot of Warriors and I don't like him at all.

I don't think his traits are needed right now. A Nocioni type of player (say an upgrade to Scal) would be more useful I think. It depends of Tony Allen though. If he's in the package, things change.

I would agree with the consensus so far, that Maggette would not be worth it, but the fact that you know there at least was interest in him, not that long ago, puts him into the discussion. I would think the extra money would just be too much.
