Shaun livingston...do it!!!

Post#1 » by kmgarnett21 » Wed Dec 23, 2009 12:33 am

Sign this man!!! He was very good with the Clippers before that awful injury. Everyone thought he was never gonna play again, but he looked good with OKC. The Thunder had to release him to make room for the players they received in a trade today.

We should give him at least a 10 day contract. He would compliment Eddie House very nicely b/c Livingston is long and athletic and could guard the 2's on defense, but play the 1 on offense. House could play the 2 on offense and defend the smaller guard on defense.

I would really like seeing us give Livingston a shot.

Thoughts?

I don't mean he looked all star good. I've only seen him in two games with OKC and he is a very decent PG. We don't really have a true backup PG, as many of us have debated back and forth all season.

I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt to give him a shot.

He doesn't have to look all star good to be kept on the roster.

I'd rather not touch that.

I know the average of 1 point on 31% shooting and 1.3 assists in 13 minutes looks really enticing, but I think we'll pass.

....because averages tell you EVERYTHING about a player.

I was just making a simple suggestion. I guess no one here really gets my point of why I'd like to bring him here. When he was with LAC, he was very impressive and he fought hard to get back and he did make it back, against all odds. I really think his potential as a backup PG for us is high.

But I guess we wouldn't want to get rid of Giddens b/c he's really important to our bench.

I always liked his talent, and I can't think of a guy that'd be a better fit off the bench with Eddie House than Shaun Livingston. Just because OKC waived him for a different PG, doesn't mean he can't succeed on another team like the C's. See: Shelden Williams.

Livingston is DONE. Why waste a roster spot on him?

He'd be a great fit with guys like E-House and Ben Gordon if he put some weight on and could guard SG's.

Wait, Joebiscuit is back? Didn't we vote him off the board or something?

I think he is done really - his knee injury was horrific and I see no signs that he has returned to form. We have MD who plays the same style of game - and does it better now. I feel bad for the guy but that's just how it goes. Medicine has come a long way but some injuries it can't fix yet. Maybe in 10 years the have methods to fix that but not now..

When he played with LAC he didnt just come back from 3 major ligaments in his knee torn up while having that same knee dislocated.

Cut a healthy player to sign one to a 10 day contract? Is is just 10 days because that's as long as he would be expected to play without requiring knee surgery? It's not like he's all of a sudden got a good knee, he's just not going to be able to last.

22-Dec-09 Waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder.
04-Dec-09 Missed 12 games (left knee surgery).
17-Nov-09 Left knee surgery, mid-December.
31-Mar-09 Signed as a free agent by the Oklahoma City Thunder to a multi-year contract.
07-Jan-09 Acquired from the Miami Heat and released by the Memphis Grizzlies.
26-Nov-08 Missed 12 games (knee injury).
05-Nov-08 Knee injury, day-to-day.
03-Oct-08 Signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Miami Heat.

^^^Agreed. And its not just that - I really doubt he is better then Hudson post knee injury. talent wise sure the old Livingston was much better. But if you matched them up right now I think Hudson would own him.

Stay with Hudson, try to scoop Livingston for training camp next year and let them battle.

I loved Shaun LIvingston before his injury and I think he is certainly worth taking a look at the problem is who do you waive?

Hudson is showing he can play a little I don't see how waiving him makes sense.

I like Bill Walker he seems to be doing everything you would hope he would at the D league level including 33 points on 14-17 shooting including 3-4 from 3 pt land. Some things don't translate but canning open shots does.

I am not a Giddens fan at all but his contract has some value as a trade chip.

If he had shown anything I would be for it but he just doesn't seem all the way back to even NBA rotation player again.

Let's also bring in Jay Williams, DeJuan Wagner and Bobby Hurley. It is very sad that young talented guys like this get hurt, but it happens. No amount of wishing is going to make Shaun's knee better. It could happen in time, but time is what the Celtics lack.

This is one more reason the NBA needs a minor league system. Teams should be able to grab guys and have them convalesce in the minor leagues without it hurting their number of players available at the highest level of competition.
