big baby

The Celtics have some good news and bad news following Monday's 103-99 loss to Golden State on the injury front. The bad news: Glen "Big Baby" Davis left the arena on crutches and told reporters he has a sprained right ankle. He was wearing a protective boot and said he couldn't walk without aid. He could be out for an extended period. He didn't sound positive. X-rays were negative. Davis sprained the ankle in an ugly collision with Golden State's rugged Rony Turiaf, in which Davis was called for the offensive foul. Turiaf landed awkwardly and fell on Davis' ankle. "I sprained the ankle before (as in last season), so hopefully I'll be back soon," he said. "I can't walk. If I can't walk, I can't run." Boston Globe

Another injury my head is held up high though and we need to play walker at some point or send him back it's dumb to not even give him a single minute.
23-7 is still a damn good record and the truth is way important we will be fine.

Shelden Williams should have never lost minutes in the first place. There is a big difference between lack of minutes/opportunity and poor performance. I only wish opposing GMs overrated Bang Belly Davis as much as most Celtics "fans". When you add on the immaturity that Wanga Gut has demonstrated, repeatedly, I frankly think he is more trouble than he is worth.

I would send out the Craven Maven ASAP. Great skillset, unrealistic sense of own worth, inability to defensive rebound on a consistent basis, too in-love with the outside shot, ineffective challenging shots and a liability at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Will need to include in a bigger deal because of BYC status but jeezam peas this guy is an overall detriment.

Celtics vice president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said Tuesday afternoon that he doesn't believe the sprained right ankle suffered by Glen "Big Baby" Davis is as serious as first feared. Davis got mixed up with Golden State's Rony Turiaf with 9:52 left in the game when Turiaf landed on his ankle. Davis left Oracle in arena wearing a protective boot and walking with crutches. "I haven't heard anything, which means nothing is serious," Ainge said. "I sent (trainer) Eddie (Lacerte) a text and I haven't heard anything and usually that means it's not much." Boston Globe

A guy rolls his ankle and now he is the anti-christ? I mean, come on. Was breaking his hand before the season started a boneheaded thing? Of course, but it is not like this guy is Ron Artest or something. Talk about over-dramatizing something.

Big fan of BBD. He will improve every year for several years. It's not his fault a 260 pound guy stepped on his ankle as he was falling. I do like the look he gave Turiaf as he was going down. If he could have gotten up, it was MMA time.

BBD hits the offensive boards, draws fouls, and causes general chaos. Give me two of these.

I do agree that Doc screwed up by not playing Williams. Sheed was toast and we didn't need the height.

Anti-Christ? No. Taking minutes and opportunity from a more/other more deserving player(s)? Affirmative. Unable to consistently defensive rebound? Check. Inability to challenge shots at the rim? Roger. Moderate-to-high usage player on a team with better options and, thereby, causing a greater strain on a possession crunch that is already causing issues for this team? Self-evident.

The fact that he is a glory-hound bonehead that offers fake hustle and little in the way of actually helping the team (when factoring in that he is taking away possessions from better players) is really what seals the deal.

I used to be a big Glen Davis fan. I have never been a fan of the "Big Baby" persona and this team, imo, is better off without him.

When healthy, I just don't see better options that are being suppressed. I'm not even a fan of him. Frankly, I find his personality annoying, but he can help this team.

I'd keep Baby, too. He is still in formation as a player. I think to max his potential he will need to drop more weight and be a combo forward. His poor rebounding is a concern but I like his feet and hands and coordination. I think he has a good feel for the game. He simply needs more explosiveness, and that comes with his weighing 260-265 instead of 285-290. Even at 260-265 he will be strong enough to hold his own defensively in the low post; his natural strength and size are extraordinary. Giving him explosiveness will be like giving Rondo a jump shot.

He may never grow up and pan out, but his market value is low so we gain little and risk much by unloading him.
