I read on the trade board that Big Al might be on the move. One person suggested Portland could be a possible destination.

man I would be stoked if that happened. Portland is perfect for al, PERFECT. Unless he eff's it up, but I can't think of a better place for the guy to go.

LOVE Al still, but, he's still only a marginal defender and he just does not draw enough contact. Would be pumped to have him back in green, but still need that defensive force alongside him.

Don't think Jefferson gets moved, but he and Love still look unlikely to coexist.

The Minny board has posters dreaming about Al and their 1st for Dwight Howard. I'm dreaming about Al and cap junk for Ray Allen.

Jefferson is young enough, and his game been so clouded by injuries, that his value is hard to pin down.

If Portland would really trade Oden for Al to make a run this year, Minnesota has a hard time turning that deal down.

If there was any way to make a deal based around Big Al for Ray, I would do it in a heart beat.

It's no secret that I was against the KG trade when it happened because I thought we'd be better off with 10 years of Al than 3 years or all star level KG. Obviously I'm ok with how things turned out, as we won a championship and KG has completely changed the culture of basketball here, but if we could get Big Al back, I'd jump at the chance.

Now this I would go for. RA for Big Al

Just wait until Al is fully healthy and in a good situation where he fits well, and has better complimentary teammates (i.e. that can shoot, pass, etc)...I don't think he's fully healthy right now either...

Needless to say, I have nothing against Perk, but I'd move him for Al in the blink of an eye. Al has the potential to be the best post player (offensively) in the league right now, and he's not a defensive liability despite weaknesses. Still young too, don't know the inside scoop on his work ethic and what not but he always seemed to me to have a solid attitude.

Plus, the way we've been looking lately (and really since the playoffs last season), and with uncertainty regarding KG's knee, I feel like we need a talent upgrade more than we need a single, though real solid role player...

There's no way I'd trade Perk for Big Al

1. Other teams would score in the paint easily because Al can't defend
2. Perk's contract is much better
3. Al is a bit injured prone

Would love to see Al on Portland, since they're my second favorite team, but I'd rather not at the cost of Oden. As it's been said, Al isn't a good defender, which is why I wouldn't trade Perk for him either (Perk's a much better fit for us, not necessarily better overall). Portland is a team that has enough offense between Roy and Aldridge where they only need someone like Oden to be the third or fourth option and need the defense more. Yeah, health would be nice, but in the long run, if Portland wants to win a championship, it's going to hinge on Oden and they aren't going to get it with a big rotation of Al and LMA.

Also, Minnesota fans are kidding themselves if they think Orlando would even entertain Dwight offers.

Is this for real? I'm the only one who thinks Big Al-for-Perk is a good trade for the C's?

Obviously he's not the defender Perk is but the offense would be even more fluid, plus this addresses KG's lack of offense. Rasheed and Shelden could play bigger defensive roles, and we could sign somebody, no big deal. Perk is great but Big Al is all-star caliber and every team needs 2, probably 3 to win. After the Big 3 retires I would much rather have Rondo paired with Big Al. Who cares about natural position, it's a talent upgrade and we'd probably be equally competitive now. Besides that, Al has played with Pierce and Rondo, his transition would be smooth and he would be thrilled to be back in Boston.

It comes down to who helps us more now, not who we'd rather pair with Rondo down the road. I'd love to have a Rondo/Jefferson pairing going into the next decade, but Perk's the better complement to the team now. He's better defensively next to KG and Sheed and has come along enough offensively to not be a liability but now an option. I'm just going to assume you meant to say KG's lack of a low post offense, not offense overall, because KG's still a huge weapon on offense. We have enough offense out of our bigs between KG, Sheed, and Baby, we need the defense.

Like P.J. Brown said in 2008, "Offense sells tickets, Defense wins championships"

Defense is more important in the playoffs then offense. Besides we have enough scorers as it is. Rondo allows his man to drive into the paint often and Perk is usually the one that stops him. If Big Al were the one in the paint instead he would probably allow the layup everytime.

Like Danny Ainge said in 2003: "Defense is easier to teach than offense".
