Wallace by Monday.....KG by Friday......Daniels on schedule........

"Portland -- there's an outside chance that could be the return game," Rivers said before Thursday night's game against Chicago at TD Garden. "Outside chance. There's a chance."

With the Celtics off the day before the Portland game, Rivers said Garnett could potentially have a day of practice before returning to game action.

But Rivers stressed that the team would not rush Garnett back.

"We'll play him when he's ready," said Rivers.

Garnett has been sidelined by a hyperextended right knee after being kicked in his surgically repaired knee against Golden State on Dec. 28. He started working out on Monday after a period of inactivity to allow the hyperextension to heal.

The banged-up Celtics should get some help before Garnett's return though. Forward Rasheed Wallace, who missed his third straight game Thursday with an injured left forefoot, is aiming to play in Boston's next game, on Monday when the Mavericks visit Boston.

Guard Marquis Daniels, who underwent thumb surgery last month, said after meeting with trainer Ed Lacerte Thursday, that he could have his cast off within "a week or two."

"I'll get it off in a week or two, maybe run and shoot a little bit, but no passes from [Rajon] Rondo," joked Daniels, who aggravated the injury on a bullet pass from Rondo during a December practice. He was examined by team doctors soon after and a torn ligament in his left thumb was discovered.

I'm sure Im not the only one who feels this way; KG has spoiled us. He makes the games so much more enjoyable to watch. Him and Rondo are by far the most entertaining guys we have. With KG out the games are just dull and we just dont click. That said, keep him out as long as they can. A part of me thinks he is not even hurt, they just planned for a rest at this point in the season.

I was thinking the same thing. Danny and Doc have been dicking us around all season.

I guess Daniels is lying too.........

"You never know, maybe it could get better [sooner]," said Daniels.

After the cast is removed, Daniels will have a soft cast while he rehabs. He says he can touch all five of his fingers to his palm now. He's been running and doing some creative weight lifting, but Daniels says he "needs to get his body fat down" to get into true game shape.

In a ustream chat with Daniels last weekend, I was asking if he'd be back by the all-star break. He seemed pretty sure that it would be before that.
Anything before early February and I'll be surprised.

He was a funny dude. I kept asking him a bunch of ridiculous questions and he was having fun with it.

Jusrt let them rest, I don't see us getting HCA anyway so no need to rush them back.

Why is that mayne? We were first place in the league when the injuries started piling up. We have played the last 10 games with ALOT of MAJOR injuries, and we are only 1.5 games behind Cleveland, and they have been pretty healthy all year long. I expect this team to run away with the east after the All Star break, when it gets fully healthy, and to put up a great fight with LA for the best record overall.

Cleveland has an easy schedule after the all star break, we'll be going through our toughest stretch of the year in February and March. We could get HCA but it's not worth risking injuries, we're the best road team in the league.
