Is KG being selfish?

I know KG is our emotional leader. But he never sits on the bench and supports his teammates. I get he's too intense if he is just sitting around and can't play. But I feel he needs to stop thinking about himself and try to help this team in other ways. I'm sure his teammates would like to see him on the bench.

Right now this team is playing without much energy. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if KG was sitting behind the bench and cheering his teammates on. Your thought.

No. Come on now..You're a professional basketball player. That's what you get paid for...you're supposed to go out there and play every game as hard as you can. I mean, why wouldn't you? This is ridiculous..they keep using this 'KG is out' excuse for these losses, but that doesn't justify them laying over every game. You get millions of dollars to just play a game, and you need another grown ass man out there on the bench to keep you in check? That's **** pathetic..that tells me you don't want to win bad enough..tells me you don't give a damn, and you are only going to play hard if somebody is there pushing you..we didn't need that last year..we won a **** of games without KG..we have no heart this year..doesn't even seem like the same group of guys we had the last 2 years.

I wouldn't say it's selfish, but yes, he should be out there. I have no idea whether it would help or not. I remember last season Ray stating that they needed KG on the bench and KG did go and sit on the bench after that. Sorry, but there is no good reason as far as I'm concerned for him not be there supporting his team. Getting to excited and worked up is not a good excuse.

If any Laker fans are around here reading this, I would love to know if Gasol stayed on the bench while he was injured?
People act like Garnett is the Celtic God, and just his presence in the building makes us a better team. Let me just remind you all, of game 7 against Orlando last year..KG right there on the bench and Boston plays a garbage game and gets whacked.

Whenever this comes up I just think of KG doing all that **** talking against CHI in a suit and would prefer he just stay were ever he is until he can back it up.

As much as this sucks right now my guess is that as long we get him back then we will be better for it as Wallace and Davis can go back to their normal roles and there will be less burden on Rondo/Paul/Ray who are struggling to carry the offense.

Actually, yes he did. Not every game though.

Who cares. He can't play, so it doesn't matter whether he's leading the cheers on the sidelines or not. Besides, Yao Ming doesn't hang out on the sidelines during the Rockets games either and no one questions whether he's a good teammate or not.

One less guy on the bench to get T'd up. No, I think it's better that he stay in the lockerroom.

I 100% think he should on on the bench... at the very least for home games. Is he part of the team or not?

I see no reason for KG to be on the bench. He's not a cheerleader.

When was the last time you've seen a player not be on the bench if he was injured? I've NEVER seen what Garnett has done. It IS selfish and ridiculous. Never really considered him a true Celtic, and he is making it tough for me to change that stance. Ray Ray is more of a Celtic then this guy.

Maybe I'm being tough on the guy, but he's apart of the team. Act like it. It's gotten to the point where I hardly consider this guy a Celtic. I never see him, and he's barely played for us the last season and a half (injuries can't fault him for that). The fact that he's never on the bench makes it harder to remember he's on this team.

With that said, I can't wait until he is actually playing for us so I remember who he is.

Dude, he's in the locker room during the games. It's not like he's sitting at home playing Xbox, eating Cheetos and smoking a bowl. I'd be willing to bet my house that he offers up encouragement to his teammates pre-game and during halftime.

I've coached basketball before, and I had one kid on the bench who you used to yell at the top of his lungs from the bench. I appreciated the encouragement and enthusiasm he was giving to his teammates. However, it was a bit difficult to coach when the only voice you heard from the bench was his. I imagine KG would be someting similar to that kid, except with a bunch of "MFers" thrown into his cheers. We already know Thibs is yelling like a madman during defensive possessions. Having him, KG, and Doc yelling simultaneously might give these guys a headache too.

I don't even know how to begin to respond to this.

I'm frustrated.

I just can't understand why he doesn't stay on the bench.

I didn't like the guy before he was a Celtic so that doesn't help him with me either lol..plus actually HOW am I being ridiculous? I want a guy on THIS team who is getting paid 20 million dollars to stay on the bench and help keep our defense in check. What's the problem in this request? You guys are just saying I'm being ridiculous because he is Kevin Garnett..nothing he does can be wrong. In fact, in my opinion, he is probably doing one of the worst things a teammate can do by not staying on the bench. I hated the teammates who would do that in high school. It ruins the mental makeup of a team sometimes.

He helped us win a championship so not calling him a Celtic is a bit crazy on my part, but he's barely been with us for a season and a half. Injuries are excusable but him not staying on the bench is inexcusable.

You have to understand that a lot of my anger comes from the fact that I KNOW we need him. We need him a lot. even.on.the.bench.

FLAME ON (where's my flame-resistant suit?!)

Can you guys tell it to stop snowing btw? :(

If he really got any indication that him being on the bench (from coaches, danny, paul or ray like last season) could help in any small way im sure he would

hes identified himself as a distraction, and potentially a tech foul target for refs that dont exactly love having swearing constantly blaring from the bench

just look at it from the other perspective... as soon as he gets back its going to be a huge lift for the team, from him not even being able to be part of teh game on the bench to being on the court

I think KG not on the bench is a pathetic excuse for their poor play.

Apparently you're not a Celtics fan. "Never really considered him a true Celtic....blah blah blah"

Are you serious? He completely changed the culture of this team BY HIMSELF!!!! And its painfully apparent that its true b/c look at how pathetic the team is without him. 4-5 without him so far this year. I mean, good freakin God. Some Celtics fans give others a bad rep, and some Celtics fans are soetimes freakin (Please Use More Appropriate Word).
