OT My girl friends take on Doc Rivers

Post#1 » by Prue » Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:08 pm

So we are watching the game last night and the camera flashes to Doc on the sideline giving someone an earful. She turns to me and said "oh god who is that guy... he looks evil" I explained who the coach was. She said he was more like Doc Vadar ... then ad libbed "Rajon I am yourrr Rondo" in her best Darth Vader voice.

I almost wet myself; then I had come to the realization that not only was my girlfriend watching the Celtics game with me, she knew who Rajon Rondo was and threw in a Star Wars reference.

I'm the luckiest man in the world.

Must be nice. My wife just bought a $3000 Chanel bag, yet she got pissed when I spent $50 on KG jersey and I have to watch my Celtics games on the smaller TV because she has to watch Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, etc on the big screen.

The moral of the story, as always: don't get married.

wow, I haven't seen you around for years Prue. Where have you been hiding?

As to Tom... you are disgracing this board. Celtics games belong on the big screen and its worth a night or two on the couch to ensure this law of nature is followed.

^^^Saddest paragraph I have ever read on realgm. My g/f is a little geek and likes to play video games and such. That beats the pants off spending big money on trash. You can a channel knock off for like $100 and its so good I would be SHOCKED if any women could tell the difference. Fashion is one of the biggest rip-offs ever dreamed up.

Of course women who accessorize and dress to impress other women are probably in the closet.

I am dating a woman is who is hyper-competitive and can crush me in a ton of different video games. The worst part is she talks a lot of trash and can back it up. Now if I could only get her to play sports games!

Possible. I think sociologists also believe its about status in society. Spending money on things that you clearly do not really need is proof that you have excess income and are thus higher status. Or some such logic..

But the sad thing is that has become such a complusion among some women that they spend money they should be saving in order to appear high status - when in reality they are not. As far as women who play sports games - that's probably asking for a bit too much. My g/f likes video games, action movies - and a host of fun things. So the fact that she doesn't really dig sports games is okay with me. Better that then dating a fashion maniac..

Even 1 grand for a bag in pretty extreme..but 3 grand. You better be pretty loaded if she is dropping that kind of money on a bag otherwise I would be the one who is pissed.. How she managed to turn that around on tombattor. Wow.. Let's hope you have like a Porsche or something to make up for that.

Dude. I hate to burst your bubble but that's what "girlfriends" do. They are the best salespeople in the world. Once you marry her, you'll have to DVR your Celtics games so she can watch John & Kate +8.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Porsche or any car for that matter. I have my metro card (subway/bus pass) and feet for transportation. And I don't know about your gf/wives, but my wife and her friends can spot a fake bag at a glance. For example, they once told me that the fake Fendi bags don't have stitchings on the strap or something. I guess there is a reason why the owner of Louis Vuitton is the richest man in France.

I'm definitely not loaded, well not for Manhattan standards, but we're not exactly in the poor house either, so a few thousand dollar bags won't make us miss any meals. Besides, my post was to give Prue's gf props for being cool (wasn't that the point of the OP?) than anything else because I thought most girls were like my wife and her friends. Maybe I just only know the crazy ones. But they all like to play Rock Band, although not Sports video games, so they are not all that bad either.

I used to love that show. The kids were the main reason, I could give a rats ass about Jon and Kate. Its funny how fame changed them. Kate thought she was the queen of sheba and Jon spent all his kids money on douchie Ed Hardy t-shirts.

I agree. The kids were really cute, but now they are somewhat grown up, they are not even that cute any more. And the parents are intolerable.

hahaha. Unfortunately, she doesn't bring friends, although she's got some friends I'd like her to bring... And her salary doubles mine and we both put in the same amount into the joint account for bills and savings, so we each have our own spending money. So I can't really make such request based on her spending habits. Although she should out of the goodness of her heart.
