Deal doesn't really make any sense from Boston's side. You weaken the SG position to add a player where there is already strength (KG, Perk, Wallace, BBD). Makes no sense to me.

It strengthens it because Ray would get bought out. We'd have Bell as his backup. Golden State and Phoenix both know they need to make deals. Phoenix doesn't want to be left with nothing if Amare leaves and Golden State knows Ellis and Curry can't coexist. Plus they need other positions. they're a team of small guys.

With that lineup plus activating Lue, we'd have an incredible 15 man roster.
Sounds to good to be true, and it probably is!

Or we could trade for Nate and hope they'd like House or Tony in return. While we continue to leave the last spot open.

A great way to remedy having a team of small guys is to trade for an undersized PF and a tweener guard. Golden State is all over this like flies on dung.

I jump ALL OVER this EVEN if Ray doesn't come back. Perkins, Amar'e and Rondo would be a great team to build around after the big 3 are done. That roster you just put together wins the NBA EASILY the next 2 years..if the Lakers pull out the Chris Bosh trade, Danny should push hard for Amar'e...

how do you know that Ray would get bought out and sign back with the Celtics?

Where else is he going to go? Boston's the only logical place that can use him. Besides he loves being a Celtic.

Any team that can use one of the most efficient scorers with a professional attitude could use Ray Allen. Turns out that's just about every team in the league. If we trade Ray Allen, which we never will, then he's not coming back. I don't mind the trade threads but the assuming what other teams will and won't do is a bit much. There is no way any team is going to buy out Ray Allen if we trade him. His contract is expiring. It doesn't even make sense to buy him out. While they're waiting for his contract to expire, they can sell a ton of Ray Allen jerseys, ticket sales will go up, and maybe if he goes to a bad team they can start getting people excited about the possibility of making the playoffs.
And besides GS would never do a Ellis for Barbosa swap. They're very similar players except one is an all star and one is a role player.

Who cares if they give Ray Allen back? You get a dominant young super star for a aging Ray Allen, who hasn't played well this season..if you're the Celtics you take it and run...like most here have stated before, you only trade Ray if you get a young stud, who will not only help you win later on down the road, but also THIS YEAR..Stoudemire would do that..not to mention he would be one hell of an insurance to KG if he doesn't get healthy..Perkins, Sheed, Amare and KG..that's domination right there...

Ray Allen wants to be on a title team and we have the one he's most comfortable with. All the other top teams have great/good shooting guards. Also we have the best hospitals in the world for his family.

PG - Mo Williams
SG - Ray Allen
SF - Lebron James
PF - Hickson
C - Shaq
Your inability to think about other teams' needs is hilarious!!

You have a good point, but Amare's a free agent too. I'd actually have to think about if I thought Ray wasn't coming back. But I got so much confidence that he would that I'd bet my left nut.

Your inability to not be a total dick is hilarious??
Ray wouldn't go to Cleveland because they've got an abundance of small forwards and shooting guards.
Lebron, Moon, Parker, Delonte, M.Williams, J.Williams, D.Green

How do you know for certain that Ray will re-sign with the Celtics? He could just as easily get mad at the organization for trading him, and be totally willing to sign with our biggest competition in the East to get back at us. Besides, Cleveland has been looking for another option all year. Ray Allen might be their guy.
But the the other two teams would never accept this trade anyway. It completely misses everything Phoenix wants, and makes GS so much worse even Don Nelson would be able to resist this.

Ray's an intelligent guy, he knows that Boston has much more stability for the next few years. Who knows if Lebron, Shaq etc are staying in Cleveland. Plus him and the other players on our team seem to be very close.

Question - where would you rank Ray Allen out of those players you listed?
You don't think Cleveland would push aside those players to make room for Ray?
Again, hilarious. I might be a dick, but what does that make you? Yeah, a taint.

Question 1 doesn't matter because they've already got enough players at that position. They are looking for a power forward before a shooting guard.
Cleveland might be willing to push aside other players, but Ray wouldn't want to come into a situation like that.
And yes you are a dick.

Cfan stop being so sensitive. CFSB has a point. Ray is an expiring, he'd go for the best chance to win and then become a free agent. Then he'd probably sign elsewhere. He'd be ideal for Lebron....
