Again, not a more apt nickname, Baby, for a NBA player. Well, at least I can say I didn't want him back.

The NBA fined him $25,000.

He'd told the heckler to suck his bleep according to Felger and Massarotti.

The Celtics forward, angered when a fan behind the Celtics television crew started repeatedly calling him “fat boy,’’ instructed the fan to perform a task unfit for print during a timeout.

Davis was close to the microphone of Celtics announcer Mike Gorman, who signaled in vain for Davis to stop. Davis’ rant reportedly could be clearly heard on both the Celtics’ televisoon and radio broadcasts.

The fan, who identified himself as Scott Zack, turned to calling Davis “Chubs’’ after being told to refrain in his behavior by security, met with a member of NBA security during halftime and lodged a complaint against Davis.

No. Question. Get rid of this guy. How dare he talk to a fan in that manner! What an outrage! And remember how he attacked the poor little boy on the sidelines after hitting the game winner against Orlando last year. He's like a wild crazy beast. Definitely time to get rid of him.

Davis has been exhibiting signs of immaturity. Would he tell Garnett to do such an act on him if he were upset with him. No. Because Garnett would send his foot so far up... Davis would be in tears, again.

You're getting upset over name calling. You're overweight... What did the heckler say wrong? You need to show more composure. Because it's behavior like this that have teams suspend players for behavior detrimental to the team. I can see Davis heading down that road one day if Garnett doesn't return soon. I mean what has gotten into him besides food.

If you want to react like that, do it out of a Boston Celtics uniform. If you look bad, Boston looks bad because people see your uniform.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers expressed disappointment in Davis, and it's not the first time this season Davis has been in some trouble with his coach.

"(If he said something back) then, shame on Glen," Rivers said. "To the victors go the spoils. I tell our guys all the time, you lose a game they have every right to yell, say whatever they want and you've got to be strong enough to walk away. So that's not the fans fault, no matter what he said. We know about it. We've got to walk off the floor. So it's that what happened, then shame on Glen Davis."

I guess if the hundreds of other player/fan verbal brouhaha's which take place every year were publicized like this, I wouldn't roll my eyes.

But you're absolutely right, this is another sign of Glen Davis' immaturity. He does need to grow up.....Still..... I don't really care about that. What I care about is his play on the court, which has been less than stellar this season.

We have a team full of unsavory meanies, potty mouthes and trash talkers. I don't watch them for tips on proper dinner etiquette or their eloquent linguistic prowess.

Pierce is a partier, KG swears up and down the court, Ray is OCD and gets mad about seating on airplanes, Eddie talks hella trash, Perk is constantly jawing with the refs, BBD is emotional, Rondo has a huge ego, Rasheed is a chucker, TA is a bonehead, Scal just kind of sucks, Marquis is frail, Shelden is a busted high pick, yada **** yada. None of these guys are perfect, neither am I, neither are you.

I would be fine with him being traded (particuarly if we got something decent in return) but that is more because I don't rate his play not that he does the occasional dumb thing.

I don't care about players' antics as long as it doesn't impact the way they play on the court or even keep them off the court. It's irrelevant.

I want Glenn Davis gone because I don't like his game and never have since he became a fat midrange jump shooter. Now he doesn't even have that anymore he just kind of runs around and fouls people.

The real question is, does he have any trade value since he's played so terribly this season? I think the most we could honestly get back in return is someone that wouldn't even crack our rotation. Unless, of course, he was a piece to a much bigger trade.

In a perfect world I'd agree with both of you. Actually, even in this world and situation I do. But people are going to take advantage of society's rules the same way a euro flopper would a referee. It's just the way it is. NBA players have known this for a long time.

What happened to this kid? I was so stoked when we got him out of LSU. I'll still give him time to get his full rhythm back, because even before he was injured, he hadn't quite found his roll with sheed. I can believe that he can be useful still. But to the op, yes his immature acts are getting really tiring.

Chad Ford has a list of his top possible players who could be traded before the trade deadline. He'd listed Battier, saying Houston is looking for big man help. Also, Hasheem Thabeet is mentioned too. These deals work...


Shane Battier and Kyle Lowry for Glen Davis, Tony Allen, Brian Scalabrine and Bill Walker.

Perhaps, Boston could include a conditional future draft pick in either deal.


So, yeah, Davis would've to be a part of a package in order for Ainge to trade him. His thumb injury really hurt his start this season. Nonetheless, he's still averaging six points and four rebounds in just under seventeen minutes a game. And teams remember how he'd played during the playoffs last season in place of Garnett. During that time, he'd averaged almost sixteen points, almost six rebounds, almost two assists and one steal in fourteen starts. Obviously, neither Houston or Memphis need him to start. However, a team such as Portland probably could use depth in the front court after losing Oden and Przybilla.

I don't understand how Glen Davis can simultaneously by so immature that he's at risk for being suspended for conduct detrimental to the team AND the center piece for deals bringing in the likes of Shane Battier and Hasheem Thabeet. But maybe that's just me.

I'm with bad-thoma, sure Davis isn't going to win any points for overreacting to a heckler and making an obscene remark and perhaps he's not the most emotionally mature player on the team. However, every human has issues to work on. Frankly, I don't think Doc's comments about Glen needing to grow up are appropriate or respectful of Davis. Keep that stuff in the locker room as far as I'm concerned.

I've been defending him on the GB. I'm not a homer, I understand that he should have kept his composure, absolutely. But to say, that Glen was in the wrong in this situation is stupid. The fan started the nonsense calling him fat and whatnot. Then when Glen made that comment, suddenly the dude is just an innocent fan trying to enjoy the game and Baby ruined it for him. He had the nerve to report it to security of it as well. I hate people like this guy.

So, no Glen shouldn't be traded for his "immature actions" but if he can be traded for an upgrade in talent, yes.

What you're defending and what I'm contending are two different arguments. I'm saying his response to the heckling was handled in the wrong manner or handled inappropriately for a paid professional athlete. The operative word being professional. Rivers concurs or I concurred with him. Read his quotes, do you believe his comments on the incident were stupid? I think not. I find it typical how fans are so quick to defend their own players as oppose to speaking objectively as I can. Again, I ask you to reread Rivers' quotes I'd included. You're on the road, you're a NBA player, an easy target. Certain fans are waiting to goad you into a situation as this. You've to ignore that stuff. Not only is Davis wrong, but he's the loser in this, not that Detroit fan. Because he'd achieved what he'd wanted, he got under Davis' skin and he overreacted right on cue. How many times will we read about Davis apologizing for something he'd did? Don't apologize, you won't have to if you don't get yourself into these situations to begin with. It's called having maturity.

He still can't defend anyone and now he can't hit the medium-range jumper because of the thumb. He let down his team and our bench is the worse for it. This pisses me off every time I see some one blow by him on the way to the rim.

As far as his behavior, he's earned his nickname and then some. This is just the latest example.

I didn't know Davis was that sensitive "Chubs"? "Fatboy"? What are we in High School? Fact of the matter is, he IS fat and he is more than chubby. If weak comments like this are enough to tick him off and make him risk suspension then he really is a "Big Baby".

He starts calling Davis names and when Davis starts talking **** back, he goes and files a complaint. What a little bitch. I'm not saying to wrongs make a right so Davis was at fault too.
