The team that caught my eye in the article was the Cavs. I hope to God they don't get him for nothing because that would be scary.

Derrick Rose and Amare together would be fun to watch. If they can sign a Dwyane Wade or Joe Johnson next year, you got yourselves another contender in the East...specially if they don't have to give up Deng or Noah in the process.. D.Rose, Wade, Deng, Amar'e + Who cares...that's a bad ass team.
If he goes to the Cavs, 'oh em geeee'..the NBA is ****. LeBron + Amar'e? :o wow...
I wish we could get him...

I honestly think the cavs have no shot at Amare.... unless Stern decides to screw the rest of the league. What are the cavs going to give up? Hickson and expirings wont get it done. IMO. Bulls meanwhile have a ton of interesting peices.

Chicago is a good match for an Amare trade.

D'antoni made a mistake, he should have went to Chicago. They would have been perfect for his style especially with Amare.

The Lakers got Gasol for nothing, why cant the Cavs get Amare?

Miami makes sense as well because they've got an expiring and Beasley that they can dangle. Amare and Wade would be pretty good. Not great, but pretty good.

I would actually be willing to do Ray, KG & Giddens for Stoudemire, Richardson, Barbosa & Dudley. It may not make us better this year but it ensures that we are relevant for quite a while.

Phoenix is always trying to avoid luxury tax; I think they'd rather let Stoudemire walk than take Deng or Hinrich. They might like Noah, but that wouldn't be enough.

With Ray's struggles, and KG's knee problems, if Phoenix offered soemthing like that to us, we take it, hop on a speed jet and bounce. Stoudemire is better than KG right now, Richardson and Barbosa combined would be better than Ray Allen, and we even get Dudley?Wow..what a trade.

That's thinking outside the box vct33. However I'd be afraid Amare would just leave us after the season. Another problem is Amare's defense, I've heard him be called a turnstile in the past. We would have a pretty young team if we did it though. It would also help our depth.

Because Chris Wallace isn't the GM for Phoenix.

Off topic, but Wallace actually deserves some credit. Cheap shots like this are only made by those who are not paying attention.

His team is 2 games out of the 5th spot in the West and has the lowest payroll in the association.

I'd say he has done his job (field a competitive team with major payroll restrictions) very, very well.

If Miami offers Beasley, Cook, Jones...for Amare

The only player signed for 2010 would be

Chalmers 1mio
Anthony 1 mio

Miami could sign 3 max free agents...ok near max 15-16 mio per

Stoudamire
Wade
Johnson OR Lebron

I can't see Amare walking away from that team. Also, defense has a lot to do with effort and team philosophy. I believe that any elite athlete can be a great defensive player.

That would be crazy. They could give Amare, D-Wade & LeBron all 5-year, $100Mil deals. Even if you had to fill out the rest of the roster with vet-min guys, it would be a sick lineup.

Everyone forgets about the 50 mil dollars that Memphis didn't have to pay to finish in last place.

In this situation there is almost no chance Amare doesn't opt out so he is already an expiring contract. I just think PHX has decided they aren't bringing him back for max money or at least aren't all that excited about it. Their problem is that they can't let him walk and get under the cap.

Ironically the team that makes the most sense based on the finances and talent is Sacramento. The Kings could send Martin, Jason Thompson, and their 4 mil in cap space to PHX for Amare getting the Suns two good young players under control and getting them under the lux tax. Obviously how the Kings convince Amare he wants to make Sacramento home is another story.

Oklahoma City could also make an interesting offer using affordable veteran bigs and Jeff Green or James Harden and they also have PHX unprotected 1st which could be pretty damn interesting if they decide to deal away Amare.

It isn't going to be easy for PHX to get value out of Amare unless he changes his mind about playing some of the outposts who may be the places willing him to give him the max.

Repost of mine from a week ago....still think it is a long shot, but not far off based on the other suggestions being made. I think that PHO is allergic to big, long contracts, so that may be an obstacle for the CHI trade. Same with taking on Kevin Martin, especially when they already have so much $$$ tied up in Richardson and Balbosa. Anyway, here was my thought process...

____________________________

I have been meaning to post my 'long shot' trade deadline deal. And yes it was for Amare. Wish now I posted this weekend, but got busy. Here was/is my reasoning:

1. PHO record and standings are not an accurate representation of where they are as a team. After a hot start, 12-3 I think, they have come back to earth. In the West right now they are middle of the pack.
2. PHO is always trying to cut payroll.
3. They have already shown that they have an appetite for trading Amare. He blocked a trade to GS this summer, at least that is what has been reported.
4. Amare has stated that he wants to go to a winner...so the C's fit that bill.

1. Celtic's need a younger star player to pair with Rondo.
2. Ainge has stated he would have traded one of the Original Big Three to create the bridge needed to continue winning. This may be his chance.
3. Celtics were linked to Amare this summer.
4. As I have said previously, Danny collects chips and then trades at high value for stars. This trade would fit his MO.

Trade Example:

R. Allen, K. Perkins, G. Davis for A. Stoudamire and L. Barbosa -or- J. Richardson

1. Saves PHO money
2. Salary friendly Perkins plays next to the recently emerged Frye
3. Stoudemire won't block the trade. It may seem light value-wise, but PHO may lose him for nothing. He also has leverage to pick where he wants to play. Next to KG, PP and Rondo in BOS makes sense.

1. Salary for next season is an issue. Post Season trades a must to make salary structure workable.
2. Is Allen bought out? That is a recent trend for players of his caliber being traded to non-contending teams.
3. Tough to trade Perk, but a healthy Amare is a top 5-10 player in the L.
4. Bridge from KG/PP to Rondo.
