Chicago talked to the Lakers about Hinrich

Wow. You mean to tell me that Ainge can't top this offer, assuming that the Lakers aren't including a draft pick as well.

Morrison and Vujacic (1 year) for Hinrich < Davis (1 year), House and Scalabrine for Hinrich

Or... Vujacic for Hinrich < Davis for Hinrich

There is no guarantee that will happen, since most NBA teams are reluctant to take on any extra salary right now. Hinrich has two more years remaining on his contract at a total of $17 million. That's not outrageous by NBA standards but definitely above market value.

A source confirmed the Bulls have had discussions with the Lakers about Hinrich, most likely for Adam Morrison and Sasha Vujacic, but nothing is imminent.

If Danny wanted Hinrich, he would've done it already, imo. Hinrich can be had for expirings.

Not necessarily. It has been said that Ainge will wait up until the trade deadline to decide on anything because he wants to see what he has in a team with everyone healthy.

Daniels is supposed to be back after the All-Star break.

This, I think it comes down to Ainge. The Lakers might just want Hinrich more than we do.

I'm gonna give you 3 reasons why the Bulls may not want to deal with the Celtics. For one you're proposing House and Scalabrine ? Tell me where are they going to play on the Bulls roster ?

Rose is going to burn 35-40 minutes a night, that doesn't leave House many minutes if he plays. Secondly they have a army of forwards, he's certainly not better than Thomas or Taj Gibson.

And last, why would they want to trade a player in conference ?

Now don't get me wrong the players the rumor has the Lakers offering won't help the Bulls one bit, except many Laker fans feel Sasha will probably function better in another situation. Other than that deals done today are more about financial situations teams are dealing with.

House and Scalabrine play the exact same positions as Sasha and the Stache and they are all about the same level of player hell Eddie is probably the prize.

It is all about the money. Hinrich is a 34 mil kick in the nuts for either Boston or LAL at this point while he is a good player that both teams could use the guy is paid to be a starting PG and a good one. He actually makes more sense for LAL as they do not have somone in that role long term were Boston would look to play him more at the 2 were he goes from special to average defensively.

Ironically what Boston really needs is Derek Fisher. A good, solid, veteran pg who can shoot 3's

How about for Scalabrine and JR Giddens?
:D

These types of offers that people come up with are just ridiculous.

That is absolutely wrong. Danny wont make any moves untill closer to the deadline for 2 reasons. 1 he can see what other deals become avalible. 2 it will be cheaper later as as players get paid every month or something like that.

How about a blunt and some ice cream and some gummy bears and a bag of chips and a 2 litre of Coke.

While we're at it, you can have Sasha for free. If you get a straw for the Coke.

It is questionable whether Fisher is better than House at this point

What I find interesting is why Chicago would want to trade Hinrich for just expiring contracts when they're still competing for the playoffs. Trading him now would be like Memphis trading Gay. Both Memphis and Chicago are in positions to challenge for a seventh or eighth seed.

Come on B, Hinrich is no Rudy Gay brah. You can build around Gay but not around Hinirch, there focus is Rose. Maybe sign Bosh or Amare. They obviously know they cant get past you guys or the Cavs this year and take a chance when they can get some expiring contracts and sign someone big in the offseason.

Wouldnt you do that if your the Bulls? What are the odds of the Bulls winning a title this year with their exsisting lineup. 0 . Its a win situation for them if they do this deal to shed off some salaries no matter which team is involved. As long as they get their expiring contracts thats all that matters for them.

^ Seconded, making the eighth seed is a goal for teams like Charlotte or Memphis who don't have many playoff runs in their history (none in Charlotte's case). The Bulls, on the other hand, have six titles. Nobody in that organization or fanbase is gonna be excited about making the eighth seed and getting bounced.

Also, with the way the East looks, they could deal Hinrich and still snag that eighth seed.

FWIW, Bulls are most likely Won't trade Hinrich unless we do a package deal for T'Mac/Amare or if Boozer/Bosh became available.

Bulls will most definitely unload Salmons though. This is why Bulls made a trade for Devin Brown just as an insurance.

It's not as attractive as you may think Hinrichs salary is beyond bloated and overmarket.

Well, according to a SI article, Boston tried to trade for Kirk about a month ago.The deal got shot down.

I can't blame Chicago if they'd declined Boston's overture for Hinrich. Because acquiring expiring contracts are ideal but a first round pick doesn't seem as appealing coming from a contending team. And you would probably prefer to trade him outside of the conference anyways.

The only quality player Ainge can offer is Davis. But why would Chicago want him if they already have Thomas who could be on the block as well.

While some teams will stay away from making long-term player investments in these uncertain times, other owners will try to exploit it. "There are still two titles to be won [before 2011-12], and certain teams will throw caution to the wind to win them," a team executive said. "If you're the Celtics, are you going to worry about your future? What you're probably going to focus on is the here and now."

That's why the Celtics made a run last month at acquiring Kirk Hinrich, who has three years (including this season) and $26.5 million left on his contract, an outlandish amount for someone who would be Boston's third guard. But he would have resolved all of Boston's backcourt issues while extending its defense, and so the Celtics considered offering spare parts for Hinrich before the Bulls decided they needed a high-quality player or draft pick in the exchange.

Two contenders in particular can be expected to be aggressive while others are receding. "I see two guys who will play heavily in this market -- [Mavericks owner Mark] Cuban and [Cavaliers owner Dan] Gilbert," a GM said.
