http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/bost ... red-claws/The Celtics recalled J.R. Giddens from the Maine Red Claws, their NBA D-League affiliate, the team announced on Friday.
The recall is procedural, according to multiple reports. Giddens recently injured the meniscus in his left knee and is scheduled for surgery.

IMO, Giddens is a dead man walking in terms of the Celtics. Celtics' news is guys who contribute to the Celtics. Giddens' has not done that ever. Not his fault. Danny's fault. He will probably be cut after the deadline for someone who gets bought out.

I often wonder, if back during the stacked 2008 draft,
if Danny, instead of drafting Giddens,
had attempted to:
1) traded 2008 1rst Round Pick for a 2009 1rst Round Pick, Top 20 Protected OR
2) traded 2008 1rst Round Pick for $3 Million Cash + Second Round Pick;
with Option 2 being the more likely,
and if the Celtics,
instead of allocating the $3 Million to profits in Year 2008 for distribution to the ownership,
but instead were bright enough to put the money in escrow
for Danny to use for a future trade,
if having $3 Million Now to toss in a deal wouldn't help get a deal done.
Because No-Shot Giddens is just a duplicate of Tony and Marquis,
except maybe not as good as either Tony or Marquis.
If that's the case, then the Celtics would have been better off never drafting him,
especially if they could have gotten $3 million + a second round pick,
which they probably could have since McHale got
$1.5 Million + two 2009 second round picks (#45 and #47) for #34 pick Mario Chalmers.

Maybe he could get a talent transplant while he gets the knee fixed.

Well, his trade value went from zero to negative.

He is an expiring. No more, no less. Being hurt has zero effect on his value.

I don't think Danny would've sold that pick because he needed to fill the roster out in case Posey didn't resign. Giddens just wasn't as NBA ready as anybody thought he could be.
And this injury probably means the end of ever seeing JR in an NBA uniform.

Tell us how you really feel, I mean, he is still a person. You would make a good GM.

What does that have to do with his trade value? I don't wish him any harm. And I would make a good GM.

It is required if he needs medical attention.
