Meet the Binkies

I thought that a good old "My favorite Non-Celtics" thread would break up the monotony. Here are my favorite Non-Celtics in the league today, in no particular order
LeBron - So much better than everyone else it is scary. Not only is he the best athlete in the game, but his BBIQ is sky high as well.
Anderson Varejao- Would take him on my team any day. Just an outstanding team player. Intangibles out the whazoo.
Dwyane Wade- Just love the guy's game. Plays both ends hard, and I really feel that he is about as unselfish a player as there is.
Udonis Haslem - Has been an uberbinkie of mine since his rookie year. Has a habit of making big plays and big shots. Excellent team defender and leader.
Chauncey Billups - One of the most underrated point guards ever. He gets respect, but not quite to the level that he deserves. As good a floor general as there is in the game.
Kevin Durant - His scoring game is just amazing. No one makes me say "wow" more times per game than this guy. Is developing a very nice all around game.
Joakim Noah - An energy guy like Andy V., who hits the glass and plays smart basketball. Love guys like them.
Jason Kidd - The guy is a basketball genius. The speed at which his mind works on the court is amazing.
Stephen Jackson - The guy may be crazy, but he is the kind of guy who makes your team better. Has proven that again and again.
O.J. Mayo - The guy is a throwback type player. Very cagey out on the court and is at his best late in games. The steak over the sizzle.
Jarret Jack - Have always admired him for his toughness and all around game. If you haven't noticed, wherever he goes he seems to displace the starting point guard he was supposed to back up.
Tim Duncan - The greatest 4 ever.
Manu Ginobili - I don't think he has ever really received the credit for how good he was at his peak. Just a machine out on the court.

LeBron, Wade, Duncan, Nash, Kidd, Al Jefferson are Star level players with whom I have an affinity.
Some of the supporting level or work in progress type players I like: Noah, Stuckey, Al Horford, Batum, Thad Young
If/when he gets here: Ricky Rubio

Lebron - hate his attitude on and off the court, but I love his game.
Chauncey - guy turned himself from a SG in a PG's body into a true leader. Clutch.
Tim Duncan - boring, but so effective.
Carmelo Anthony - Paul Pierce remix.
Steve Nash - sucks on D, but one of the best passers I've ever seen.
Kevin Durant - one of the most humble young guys I've ever seen.

Dwyane had a ridiculous play last night where he felt the double was coming so he put it behind his back and split it in a millisecond and easily got to the hoop for the layup. He made it look so easy and he is probably the only one in the league who can pull it off. I'd love watching him play if his team wasn't so bad.
Durant is easily putting up 30+ in every game now. He makes scoring look so easy and is a great young leader for that Thunder team. I feel bad for Seattle fans every time I see him. It's good to know we're in good hands with Ainge because he would've taken him over Oden.
I actually like these guys' personalities. I can't say the same for Dwight or Lebron. Just not a fan, though Lebron can be unreal to watch. I cringe when I think of the stats he could put up in D'Antoni's system.

really surprised that no one has said Kobe Bryant. I personally hate him. Hate his attitude and his game (even though he is best in the game right now).
I don't like his game because he made himself too much like Jordan. Has anyone noticed his fadeaways, the way he tries to instruct his teammates, the way he chews gum on the court, the way he talks to the media......he's so whack, MJ was different than magic and bird and anyone else, he was his own player.....Kobe is not his own player....he's a MJ ripoff......i'm glad he's a laker, cuz i hate the guy.
Still....i'm really surprised no one else has mentioned him.

Tim Duncan- One of the greatest PLAYERS period! Has won titles with a variety of supporting players. TIMMY has made a lot of players some serious cashflow. The guy is just phenomenal.
Lebron James-Superfreak! My only concern is that he's on the juice. I really think steriods are more of a factor in basketball then people think. I love Bron though. Wish the C's could get a hold of him...He's a man amongst boys.
Kobe- Love or hate him you have to respect him. He's getting better with age. In a lot of ways he truely is the closest thing to MJ. But I think he'll finish his career strong and before you know it we'll be comparing players to KOBE.
Rondo- He has a very unique still set. Only weaknesses is his shooting and even that is improving. You could tell there was something special about this kid from day 1. Fun, fun to watch.
Durant- Ainge would have drafted Durant over Oden. And he was right on with his assessment. Durant, if he can stay healthy, will go down as one of the greatest scorers of all time. He's 21!!! He's getting better and better. He'll win titles.
KG- Heart of a warrior. One of the greatest leaders of all-time. One of the most energetic, impact players of all time.
Other notables who I love to watch: R. Westbrook, Rip Hamilton, Dirk, Josh Smith, Chris Paul

You can't really be surprised can you? This is the Boston Celtics board.
Big Al, Kevin Love (though I'm not sure they can play together) and Durant for me. I love Wade's game too. LeBron I'm just in awe of but I can't say he's a personal favorite - too over-exposed. Still, I refuse to use the term Binky. Sounds like a gay playmate. Which could be fantastic if I was in search of one. But no.

I hear you and your right. It is a Celtics board so Kobe's name is like committing a sin. Nevertheless he's an elite ball player and can do things that are almost on the level that MJ was. I don't think he's on that level but he's pretty close. I hate the guy but the question is would I hate him if he were a Celtic? Probably not but would still dislike the idea that he makes himself appear too much like MJ.

Yeah Binky is a garbage term. I like Joe Johnson, C. Billups, Iggy, Nash and D. Wade but in fairness I don't see all the guys play all the time. I watch mostly Celtic games. Most bigs I don't really care for because its really all about them using their size and not really skill.. The great "moves" of most bigs can be perfectly mimicked by the vast majority of two guards - they are just less effective because they are so much shorter..
This isn't to say I dont' recognize winning hoops often comes down to the quality of your bigs. But..they are less exciting to watch. Hell even Rondo is alot more exciting to watch then KG in person nowadays..

Noah- he's worked hard on his game and developed his body
G. Wallace- hard nosed player
Battier- Great defender
Wade- Superstar and handles himself well
Aldridge- To be honest I never get a chance to watch Blazers games but I like that he has developed into an all star calliber player despite Oden and Roy getting most of the spotlight
Kobe- I respect him like I respect Jeter
D. Howard- Great force in the paint statistics wise. Shotblocker, rebounder etc. But he needs to wipe that smile off his face and get mean. He has got the stuff to back it up. Then he would more fun to watch.

Not a huge fan of LeBron or Howard. Wade doesn't bother me nearly as much but there's still guys I like more. For me it'd be like this:
Durant - maybe the best pure scorer in the league now and is only 21 or something like that. I think this guy could challenge the all time scoring record.
Melo - Reminds me of a younger more athletic Pierce. I think Billups has really helped him mature.
Rudy Gay - Crazy athletic and great length. Could be a defensive monster at the 3 the way Rondo is at the 1 if he was on the right team. Becoming a more efficient scorer and complete player. Just entering his prime now.
Brandon Jennings - How can you not love that flat top look?
http://www.bouncemag.com/wp-content/ima ... randon.jpgBonus college player:
Derrick Favors - great shotblocking and rebounding instincts, terrific motor, off the charts athleticism, good height and great wingspan. The ideal defensive / rebounding partner next to Perk.
