Ot- Amare for Iggy rumor?

I just read on Espn that an Amare for Iguodala deal is being discussed. It doesn't make sense for Philly because they are such a bad team. Amare will just leave after the season. Unless that's all they are looking for is an expiring.

I think that is a good deal for both teams. Would be interested to see if the Suns maybe include a guy like Barbosa, and get back Dalembert. That would allow the Suns to acquire a very good athlete for a fast brake offense who is under contracts, and it lets Philly try out a very talented expiring contract in Amare who if he is all he can be, and fits with brand, they could resign and at least maybe a decent team in the East.

I doubt Amare will leave after this season. If you believe the rumors, then he's really worried about getting paid. He'll get his money, but I doubt next year he'd get an offer as high as his 17.4M option. If Philly promises to pay him, he'll stay there.

I can understand why Phoenix wants to do it, since supposedly they had an interest in Iguodala before his draft, but didn't believe he'd last to them, so they sold the pick. However, another trade has to be in the works (or they're trying to get Speights back in the deal as well), because there'd be a logjam at the 2 and a hole at the 4/5 if they made this move.

Yep, Phoenix would probably put themselves out of the playoffs if they didn't get a big somehow. Frye and Robin Lopez aren't going to get it done.

This trade makes alotta sense for both teams... if Phoenix is willing to take on that long salary of iggy. But iggy would be really nice on that suns team.

Could we get Amare for Ray, Baby and filler? It might be better financially for Phoenix. Of course Iggy is much younger then Ray though.

I don't get this deal at all....

The Suns would have no bigs left and the Sixers would be renting an angry Amare for half a season, which doesn't help the tanking/rebuilding they'll be doing after the trade. I still think the Suns will take their chances with Amare this summer anyway and maybe look to do a s+t for a 2010 FA using J-Rich's expire and some combination of picks/young players.

So if there is indeed any proverbial fire to the smoke we're seeing IMO it's because the Suns are looking to add Iggy to the Amare/Nash core.

The other latest news is PHO will ofer contract extension to Amare around 13 mio per, it looks for 3 years...because Nash is there with a contract for next 2 years.

I believe Amare could take 6 years 78 mio, but 3 years 39 mio...I dont think so!!!

I think they'll need a 3rd team. Philly would be insane to lock up all their money in two PFs with lingering injury concerns and trading for Amare is silly if all they want is an expiring contract.

Phoenix would need to find someone with a fat expiring contract to shuttle the trade through. If I were Danny I'd be willing to send Ray to Philly in return for Jason Richardson and Grant Hill (or maybe Barbosa). Adds some rebounding and much-need athleticism to our starting 5 (without sacrificing too much 3-pt accuracy) while anchoring the bench with a do-it-all veteran.

The Suns must be sold on the idea that Amare is leaving, and sold on Frye being a solid starting PF. I guess the Sixers would make out well, they get the cap releif, Barbosa and the chance to get something out of Amare next summer in a s+t.

That's completely contingent on Amare opting out though. Just doesn't make enough sense for Philly.
