I know this trade would never happen, but I figured I'd throw it out there.

It's astonishing to me how quickly people would dismiss a deal like this. As is, I'm pretty sure I'd do it. If Stoudamire signed an extension as part of the deal, it becomes a slam dunk.

I was thinking the same thing my man. A major positive is that Amare is 6 years younger then KG and loves to play in the paint. His one problem is his defense, Garnett is much better in this department.

Richardson is a few years younger then Ray as well and can still get above the rim. While Barbosa plays both guard positions effectively unlike House.

I'm not even sure that Amare's defense would be a "problem". Defense is all about scheme and commitment. He has all the tools to be a very good defender in our system.

First off completely revamping chemistry in the middle of the season basically means we are giving up on a title shot this year. Neither Amare or Richardson have ever been "team concept" kind of guys, and Amare has been pretty fragile most of his career. If you're running an nba 2k franchise it's probably a sweet deal, if you're trying to win a title it's fail.

The C's have a shot because even if they have lost a step the paint is still tough ground for an opponent between KG and Perk. I'll agree that Amare has the tools to be a decent defender on a team structured for it, but he's not even in the same league as KG and never will be. Richardson is a decent offensive player but not really all that great since he's been in Phoenix, even paired up with Nash, I'm just not a big fan.

The biggest plus from this idea would be Barbosa, he'd be huge upgrade off the bench here.

Well, it makes the team younger, although it makes the team worse defensively. I wouldn't agree to it today, but it would be a no brainer next year.

You only do this deal if you're looking to move Pierce as well to keep getting younger. I'm not moving Paul, and even if we did, whatever team we had would be a good team for the next several years, but I highly doubt they'd have a chance at the championship. I'd rather win NBA titles rather than just division titles. We're the Celtics, not the Raptors.

Defense is equally, if not more, about awareness and communication. It would take several notches for Amare to be a good defender, and several notches above that for him to come close to equalling KG in affecting how the defense plays together.
Baylor is Brat.
