Enough said.
And yes, 7 20 point games in 38 tries is good enough for a starting ALL-Star spot.
Average is 14.3, though.'
To put that in perspective, if KG were averaging 19 ppg,
he would have had to score 178 MORE POINTS THAN HE HAS,
and the Celtics would likely have 6 fewer losses
(Lakers, Orlando, Golden State, Clippers, Philadelphia and Orlando again).

Garnett will never be close to what he used to be, but he also needs to get his head back in the game on this team. He is not the leader on this team anymore and hasn't been all year. This is part of the problem with this team as nobody else has stepped up to be the leader seeing KG doesn't seem to have that quality which must have left with his injuries. KG used to lead by example, but since he has been injured he has seemed to have lost that leadership quality he had with this team.

He is at 18/9/3 per 38 mins. Which isn't bad considering the circumstances.

What KG needs to do is stop playing like he has a vagina on offense and start attacking the basket. Him not going up with the ball after getting an offensive rebound right under the rim and kicking it to Pierce for a 3 sums up his worth right now. He's playing like a girl and for someone who's yelling so much all the time he's playing awfully soft. We don't shoot FT's because someone like him fades away from the basket half the time in the post. He's has so many game with zero FT's when he can easily draw them but he's soft constantly passing to Perk and deferring from his own game.

Yes because the number one priority should be PPG.

I think it's unrealistic and irrational to expect KG to return to his "old self" or to perform at a greater level than he did last year.
I mean he has a lot of mileage on his body, his play has been clearly falling off for the last few years now, and then that injury... It's part of one's natural career trajectory.
Garnett's situation is very similar to the one JO went through and Brand is going through now fans keep expecting these guys to miraculously bounce back to their 20-10 days but physically that's just not possible for them...

I think that it's pretty clear that KG will never sustain 38 mpg again.
Although for his salary the next few years, 30+ minutes is expected.
It just doesn't look possible watching him move around the court.
He's not healing. He's broke. There is a difference.
The repair (surgery) failed, because apparently it's not a repairable issue.

He's done. He plays like Joe Klein now.

Actually it is. We can't score I don't get the sarcasm. We cannot put the ball in the basket, I don't care if the big guns don't have the scoring avgs of their youth when we are blowing teams out by 20 and scoring over 100ppg but we aren't and scoring and everyone besides Rondo and Perk's scoring is down and none more than Garnett.
I was reall worried what this team would be like when we needed to rely on Rondo's offense to win games but I though it would be two or three years from now.

PP has scored 20 in 19/42 games. 45.2%
Ray Allen has scored 20 in 13/49 games. 26.5%
RR has scored 20 pts in 9/48 games 18.8%
KG has scored 20 pts in 6/38 games. 15.8%
----------------------------------------------------------------
Rasheed has scored 20 pts in 2/46 games. 4.3%
Perk has scored 20 pts in 2/49 games. 4.0%
EH has scored 20 pts in 1/48 games. 2.1%
That's 52 20 point games in 49 games.
3 of which were 30+ point games (2 Pierce, 1 Rondo).
This offense is all about spreading it around, but this is the production of the entire starting 5 plus top 2 scorers off the bench. It's fine to have a balanced offense but you still need more than 1 guy who can put up at least 20 points more than 1 out of every 4 games.

I was referring exclusively to Garnett. The number one concern for Garnett should be getting as healthy as possible by the playoffs, not scoring as much as possible. I'd rather he missed a few extra shots or took a few less to reduce the impact on his knee instead of continuing to go 100% when that clearly is not possible for him at this point.
The rest of the team, yes PPG is important.

rebounding > scoring
as long as KG is still a scoring threat there is no problem and with his jumper he is always going to be
he needs to get his rebounding back on track.. without looking i think he has been gradually, but thats where we need the help

you raise a good point, the aging of this team has shown in the diminished rebounding capacity more than anywhere else. As far as that is concerned, I don't care about the numbers so much as what kind of effort and physicality KG can put into the rebounding effort for 4 quarters, game in and game out. The sad thing watching him play this year is that he used to be a man amongst men going for the ball. Now he has a hard time matching alot of other players speed and strength. he is who he is. He will probably improve (certainly scoring wise) as he gets in better game shape, but for the most part what we've seen this year from KG is the most we should expect from him anymore.

also that effort and physicality issue also applies just as much to Paul, Ray and Sheed in regard to rebounding the basketball.
