The Angry Doctor

Post#1 » by Cyclical » Wed Feb 10, 2010 8:11 pm

“Offensively, the only thing I told them is that if the ball gets stuck once, you’re getting subbed,” Rivers said. “That’s just clear.

“We’re not playing any games here. If the ball’s not moving, you’re coming out.”

Let's see how we're looking tonight.

bird man, doc talks, but when has he said anything like this in a long time? Even doc bashers have to appreciate this. I doubt very highly that he is just talkin'. This is REAL TALK. like r kelly.

I too think he's talking out of his ass. He seems like a nice guy, but I never liked Doc as a coach. His subbing sucks and he gives too many DNP's to players like Shelden.

Well, Doc's been the only coach I've seen that was brave enough to bench Paul Pierce in the 4th quarter for not running. Getting the quick hook today would send a message, because it gives players 6 days to think about why they got pulled.

On point. The last time Doc was blowing substitutions Danny made a couple moves to force Doc's hand and get his guys in there. Maybe Doc playing those guys so much made it possible for Danny to trade them (Raef, Mark ahead of Perk and Big Al and Delonte, Bassy ahead of Rondo). Gwen Davis will get traded and Shelden will get his minutes back to crash teh boards.

I saw the man's face at halftime and then after the magic game, he aint playin. Rondo is gonna bring it. KG is gonna bring it. Perk is gonna bring it.

I dunno. I think Doc is genuinely PISSED with this team. It may have taken him 20 games to catch on, but that last game HAD to be a wake up call.

How many times have we been flat out embarrassed in the last two months? Remember the Pistons game? That had to be the worst one, although this last Magic game was close to it.

It's about time Doc stops playing favorites and puts the 3, 4 or 5 guys on the court who are playing well and LEAVE them on the court until something changes. Chuck that preordained subbing pattern and stick with the players who are playing hard and getting it done. I don't care who it is.

That's true, that is how we got rid of Justin Reed who was getting minutes ahead of Gomes.

I'll believe it when I see it, and even then we'll see if it's more than a one-game thing.

Since he's quick with the hook for all our young players (like Rondo, Perk, TA, Baby, Walker/Giddens), I'll assume he's mostly talking to four veteran players--Ray, Sheed, House, and Paul. KG always makes the extra pass, as do Rondo and Daniels.

Does Doc have the balls to bench Ray for not passing? I don't believe it.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

I think he wants the offense to run quicker. Not wait15 seconds before someone even touches the ball. Also he means...Ray stop dribble around in circles you weak handle fool and Perk how about making your move quicker than 10 seconds or pass it out

Thanks, I forgot who it was that was ahead of Gomes. You can't imagine the stress I was going through watching Raef and Blount heaving up shots and not battling on the boards while Perk and Big Al were wasting away on the bench. That 19 board game against the Sixers for Perk was a godsend.

Yeah, but he hasn't had the balls since then though. Would he have the balls to bench Sheed or Ray?

Yeah, you're right. Gimme a guy like D'Antoni who will bench guys for no reason. Sure, the Knicks stink, but boy, that D'Antoni sure has some big balls.

SinceBirth, that incident with Pierce is the only manifestation I hang on to believe Rivers acts as a disciplinarian when it's needed. You surely do not see it in his mannerisms on the sidelines or his tone when he is "miked up" during timeouts or halftime speaches. I try to give some benefit of the doubt and assume the fire and brimstone speaches are delivered tactfully away from the public eyes and ears. But, I will be anxiously awaiting seeing evidence of such now that he let the cat out of the bag. Seeing that this complacency has lasted as long as it has, it is very difficult to see Rivers in that light. I want to believe it's there.
