rivera's on the way out, homers. you can only get by with 1 pitch for so long.

You do realize that Wagner would have to not give up a run for 102 INNINGS to equal Rivera's dominance, right?

I read that and said to myself, wow....Rivera is scary good. Then I remembered watching him pitch the last ten years and I said to myself, wow....Rivera is scary good.

It truly is amazing... Mo's postseason dominance will never be matched.

yup, he's so much better than wagner. i mean, wagner's blown 2 saves and has a 5.5 era! oh wait, that's rivera. you've got no business calling anyone else a homer, buddy. you're one of the worst on this board.

When Billy Wagner is the closer for three straight WS then you can bring him up. Just because his numbers are better on June 5th, 2007 doesn't mean he's had a better career than Rivera(not even close). Also, since when is someone not allowed to go through slumps? It's not his fault that the Yankees haven't had many save opportunities to give him this year. I think Mo has 7 saves and he's blown two. That gives him 9 opportunites. IT also hurts him by not getting him ample work.

Also, just by mentioning Wagner in this thread makes you a homer. The first post asked for Papelbon or Mariano. You couldn't live without mentioning a Met.

I really think looking back on old threads is so interesting when people make comments in the heat of the moment, such as Mo's cutter becoming ineffective because you can only get by with it for so long. Mo doesn't get by because of his stuff, but because of his ABSOLUTE pinpoint control, nobody else in baseball can even control their 4-seamer the way that Mo controls his cutter. The guy is a once in a lifetime pitcher. 38.1 innings, 22 hits, 3 BBs, 44 Ks. That couldn't even be done on mlb2k8.

Hey, don't mock. Henke was a damn good, damn consistent closer.

Not mocking at all. Henke is one of my all-time faves.
