Which of these portly young gentlemen do you see as having the better career peak-wise and in total? The longest? And who will hit more HR when all is said and done?

Peakwise- I don't know if Prince will ever do what Howard did last year.
Longer Peak-Fielder, he's only 23.
Total, most homeruns....See Fielder; Prince...23 years old. Howard; Ryan...27 yrs old.

Fielder broke in at age 22. Howard at age 25.
Ryan Howard will have a better peak because he's a much more disciplined hitter, but Fielder is going to have a better overall career because he's much more athletic, he's younger, he's a better fielder, etc.
I don't think either guy will ever match the .313/.425/.659 line that Howard put up last year, though.

I would take Fielder just because of his age. But I do think in 10 years hes gonna turn out to be what Mo Vaughn was towards the end of his career.

Fielder will have a longer career with more HR's, Howard will have the best peak. I think he's only 4 off Prince now with around 100 AB's less.
Edit: Okay, he's 5 off with around 70 AB's less. But Howard's career 1.011 OPS is too good.

Ryan Howard tops the NL in strikeouts. I take Prince.

I agree with the rest of your post but that is just a un researched comment you made. Howard is one of the biggest free swingers in the game. he will come close to doubling Fielders strikeouts. And I also think Prince could put up that 313 batting average in a couple years. Hes only 23 and hitting 295 already this year with that same power.

Strikeouts (when used alone as a stat, anyways) do not mean a hitter isn't disciplined. Howard walks far more than Fielder does and his number of pitches seen per plate appearance is significantly higher than Fielder's.
As for the thread, I'll go with...
Peak: Howard. Like BG, don't see either one matching what Howard did last year.
Career: Fielder.
More HR's in career: Fielder.

Tough call, Howard's average is down and his k's are up this year probably due to him adjusting to:
1. The shift.
2. Being pitched around and having to capitalize on a much smaller amount of pitches to hit.
I think Prince might possibley go through what Howard is going through right now next season. Howard isn't a .260 hitter IMO. He's got power to all fields that is only rivaled by guys like Bonds, Arod, and Pujols.
