Bonds
517AB 122R 159H 27(2B) 3(3B) 42HR 129RBI 151BB 76SO
40SB 7CS .308BA .461OBP .615SLG 1.076OPS
A-Rod
430AB 107R 129H 26(2B) 0(3B) 39HR 114RBI 68BB 88SO 14SB 2CS .300BA .407OBP .633SLG 1.040OPS
So who ya got.
I have to go with Bonds for 3 reasons.
1.Stole Bases
2.Walks/OBP
3.Damn it is to close I say both

Bonds so very easily. I don't see the argument for A-Rod unless you think his playing third makes up for Bonds being significantly better at the plate.

WARP3
Bonds 1996: 12.7
ARod 2007: 12.4
EqA
Bonds 1996: .362
ARod 2007: .349
Interesting how close the WARP3 numbers are. ARod almost catches up to Bonds with his fielding.

Bonds. A-Rod will have more HRs and RBIs though.

Bonds has had many great years, particularly after his 4th season in the bigs.
During his 5th, he finally started to get more BB than S.Outs. I don't know how much importance you guys put on this ratio but it's one of the first that i look for.
Getting away from the thread question but thought i'd share one of his better years and not too long ago. Bonds knees were bothering him this season and he had surgery on them the following year.
2004 season stat's.
ab.....R.. .H...2b..3b...HR..RBI...BB..SO..SB...OBP...SLG....OPS....AVE
373.129.135. 27..3.. 45.. 101..232..41.. 6. .609.. .812 .1.421. .362
Beside the very fine Batting Average, OBP, SLG and outragious OPS, one glaring stat pops right out, 232 base on balls. Of corse everyone knows not to pitch to Bonds when he is hot and hot he was this year. Many are quick to point out that Barry spiked out of nowhere in 2001 with 73 dingers. In reality, if pitched to before and especially several years after with maybe half the BB's, There is no reason to believe that he would not have hit in the neighborhood of 70 more often.
For the year on this thread... Bonds over A-Rod , I'd take em both!
